I just got to my long range area (National Forest) and got this load perfected. At 200 yds. the first circle down on a 2.5X10 Nikon Monarch BDC reticle. It shot a 3 shot group of 1.75 in. at 200 yds. And thats saying a lot considering the concentration it takes to bench shoot this behemoth Ruger # 1. It's not bad at all shooting offhand but not nearly as accurate.
For those of you that have one (POP) here's the load:

85 gr. IMR 3031. CCI 250 LRM primers. OAL 3.64" . Barnes (SORRY) 350 gr. TSX. 2640 FPS. 5200 FPE.
It's accurate enough to shoot squirrels but a brush buster supreme for moose and big bears.... and then there's ELK !!

Good Hunting

Greg,

You have yourself a real shooting hammer.

Thanks JD

It's one of those calibers that are more fun to own and shoot than it is practical but "I WILL" hunt with it this year. I might try bear again.
(I'd really rather shoot wolves in Idaho) but they havn't made that available.
Good Hunting

No doubt! It sounds great. Gotta try my Lott one of these days.

I looked at a CZ 550 in 458 Lott today. I may go back Monday and bring it home. I've got to think about it for a day or two. What will i use it for?
I know , I'll shoot the wild tom cats that are killing all the rabbits on my place.

Sounds good to me. It's actually got pretty good range to it with a 350 gr. TSX. It would probably take a cat out to 300 yds.

Greg,

You should try your 458 Lott out on a P Dog or a Rockchuck.

Jim,

You know I'd like too try em on these coyotes on my place but I don't know if the TXs would be tough enough. Now if I could get some noslers in 350 gr. 458s I'd be set.

Great Hunting
