I recently put together a 223 load with Nosler 55 Grain Ballistic Tips and Varmint powder.
A couple of days ago I tried out the Thompson Contender Carbine.

Today I tried the 14" pistol barrel.

I used to shoot the 14" contender quite a bit and found bluedot loads worked best. Good performance without the horrendous muzzle blast. Those things with full power loads make 3' fireballs!

The bluedot loads ran 40gr bullets up to 3000fps and 50s up to 2550fps. But with very little noise and blast.

My go to load for predator hunting with the contender was a 50gr bulk sp at 2550. It killed well and was very accurate.
