I have a Winchester Coyote in .223 WSSM, Love the rifle but not real wild about the cartridge, and I am starting to think that the barrel is having issues just will not group anymore. Also I have an AR that shoots sub MOA that is pure death on any coyote within 300 yards and on a calm day out a bit farther. What I really need is a long range coyote, wolf, Eastern Montana deer and antelope round. Has anyone built a 6.5 WSSM. My concept would be to set it up around the 130 grain AB thinking that your might be able to get close to 3000 fps. Worried about the bullet length. Plan B is the .25 WSSM so I am interested in others experience with it.

I have a Win 70 Featherweight in 25 WSSM. I love this rifle, small, light, accurate and packs a punch equal to a 25-06. Wish I had a couple more.

...seems like the people who've built them are pretty happy w/ 'em, if you have the magazine length to handle the high BC bullets...
...as far as "Plan B", Alliant (& Speer) give a Max. load of 45grs. of RL-17 w/ a MV of 3041fps for the 120gr. BTSP. My .25 WSSM A-Bolt avgs. 3200fps w/ 44.5grs. of RL-17 using 115gr. VLD's, 117gr. SSBTS, 120gr. HPBT/ SBT/ GS's. This seems to be fairly consistent w/ the other 1/2 doz. people who shoot a .25 WSSM & the results listed in the one article ("Designer Powders"/ Rifle Jan-Feb '11) I've found where someone actually tested it. Same result w/ 75 & 85/90gr. bullets. The new 90gr. BlitzKing is an entity unto itself. The quarterbores aren't "real long range performers", mostly due to the moderate BC's available, but they are very capable on medium game as far as I need to shoot & a real hoot for varmints (400-600yds)...
...anyways, there's some numbers to tumble around in your head & throw into ballistics tables...
...one note on reloading the .25 WSSM's, the necks are consistently thick (& rough), inside neck turning or @ least buffing w/ a bore brush will reduce the number of collapsed shoulders & make the rounds more consistent...
