6.5x55 swedish mauser

I have a friend that is selling his 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. He only wants 200 for the gun and that includes some bullets and the dies as well. I have already shot the gun and it shot very nice. I am not completely sure what model it is. But I do know that halfway down the barrel the barrel drops down to a smaller size and is that size all the way to the end. What is this rifle really used for these days and what are some loads for this rifle. Thank you

Ok, I will talk to my friend a little more about this rifle. Does anyone know any loads for this gun?

I can give you a bunch of loads I tested with my Tikka in 6.5X55. I used a bunch of nosler bullets as well as a Swift bullet. I also have Barnes bullets loaded. I also have an all matching original mil mauser chambered the same. It is a great cartridge. It is used in Europe for animals up to the size of our elk and such.

You won't be sorry with the 6.5......

I use 100 / 120 gr B-tips to play with out of the 2 .260's in my safe....the 130gr A-bond is phenominal on big-game !
I have yet to be able to get anything heavier than that to shoot to well, but I believe the 130's to be about ideal in this round.

130 AccuBond, 125 Partition, 129 Hornady Interlock....Whatever shoots best will be the one to go with....Look no further than IMR 4350/H4350/RL-22...Great shooting cartridge with less recoil than 243 Win, with even more authority! Get the gun; you'll be glad you did!

Keep in mind that the small ring mausers can't/shouldn't be loaded to maximum charges that can be handled by modern actions. As long as you set your max to a mid level loading and accept this, you'll be fine and I think happy.
