Hey all. Got to thinking about the 160s in my gfs kimber 7/08 for spike elk. Original plans were to use 140g ABs. Now Im thinking the 160g NPs I have sitting here might work a little better. Thoughts on 160s out of a 7/08? Realize Ill give up a bit in velocity and trajectory but I like the heavier 160g for elk size animals from a 7mm personally. Shots are typically 300-600 yards. What are couple of the proven powders for this weight/case combo? Thanks for any and all feedback!

Used a Nosler AccuBond regularly for hunting in a Wby Vanguard Hart Barreled 7mm-08 I made for my old GF. Nosler 160 AB behind 45.1 H-414 with a CCI-BR2 primer in Winchester brass that was under 1/2" MOA out to 600 yards. I believe it did something like 2,625-2,650 fps? Speed in not always the name of the game.

Don't over think it. A 140 AB will be More than enough for as far as anyone can shoot accurately !

Look at the thread I started asking for RL16 data. 2800fps looks very doable with a 160gr bullet. 3000fps with a 140gr! I may retire my 7mag...lol
