Anyone out there have a good accurate load for the 160 AccuBond?
My rifle shoots really well with the 140's & 7828. Now I'm looking for a long range Caribou load.
Thanks.

Mine has like 79 grains Retumbo with the 160's better than anything else I have tried in it. I am talking groups ,not speed as I have not chronied it.

The 160 gr AB is excellent for long range hunting. I am getting excellent accuracy with this bullet in my 280AI with a MV of 3000 fps.

I've been shooting the STW for 3 seasons now with the 160gr AB with nothing but excellent results. I've taken bison, deer, antelope, elk and a wild hog. I've been loading RL25 and H1000 and have noticed a little better accuracy with the latter. I just purchased my chronograph so don't know the MV.

Congratulations on your success.
Have you recovered any of the 160 gr AB's?
What kind of penetration and expansion are you getting?

Thanks for your imputs.

I switched to the AB when they came out after having over-expansion (massive fragmentation actually) problems with the BT's in the 7mmRemMag. Since then, I've taken game from 40 to 451 yds with the AB's. Most of those shots have been broadside through the ribs so I haven't recovered a bullet. I couldn't be more pleased with the performance however.

I did take a whitetail at 230 yds through the top shoulder joints and, unfortunately, an antelope through the hips/pelvic bones (This last weekend I underestimated the effects of a 30 mph crosswind at 320 yds). Both shots took out relatively large bones and exited leaving about a nickle-sized wound. There was no sign of bullet fragmentation at all. The AB's seem to perform like partitions except that a Partition will sometimes leave some lead in the meat as it disintegrates to the Partition (I have recovered a Partition in the past).

I plan to get the chrono up and running and out to the range this weekend and will do some comparisons between the RL25 and H1000.

Have you had similar experiences with the AB's?

I'll be using the 160 gr AB this comming season so I will post my results.
I've had great success with the 140 gr BT out of a 280 Rem on WT Deer and Caribou. Only recovered one BT on a WT 1/4ing on shot at 150 yds.
I have yet to recover a PT on WT Deer, Mule Deer, Elk, or Blk Bear.
Always get a nice quarter to golf ball size exit wound from any angle.
