We had a discussion a while back concering my idea of working a 160gr AccuBond load up for my Remington 700 CDL in 7mm08.

Well...I worked up a couple different loads with IMR 4350 and Varget and this morning headed for the range...

I was very pleased with these results;

43gr IMR 4350.....1.14
43.5 IMR 4350.....0.91
44gr IMR 4350.....0.60
(Wish I had loaded a 44.5!! :oops: )

37.0gr Varget.... 0.80
37.5gr Varget,,,, 0.45
(my buddy LongWinters had a little Varget left that he let me use...I definitely need to get out of town soon and get some more Varget!!! :p )

Needless to say I am very pleased with the results so far...Don't know what kind of speed I'm getting...probably under 2600 at this point...but with the CDLs 24" bbl I am hoping for around that mark. I feel the 160 AccuBond will still give me plenty of energy and expansion for the 30-70yd shot distances I encounter up here in the thick stuff.

I'm shooting 47.2gr of IMR4350 and 150gr B-Tips or Match-Kings. It's difficult to get all the powder in the case, but gives me under .5 @ 100.
I've taken Mule deer and Elk from under a hundred to over 300yrds with the 150gr B-Tip. The 7-08 is an awesome round.

Northwoods Hunter,

The 160 gr AB in your 7-08 will penetrate into tomorrow and will give you pleanty of expansion for those big UPer swamp bucks.

You can actually realize 2700 fps + with believe it or not compressed loads of RL22!! I have seen this in an older (not that old) reloader's digest. It works well and rivals the 280 rem.

48gr of Ramshot Hunter gets me just under 2750 with 160gr Partitions in my 7mm-08 Savage. Very accurate sub MOA
