Couple weeks ago, a friend of mine brought these presses to me for disposition.

He was cleaning out an old shed on some property he had bought and found them in the dirt under some other junk.

The one is a MEC 650 set up for 12 guage from what I can tell. The other is a Lee Pro-1000 set up for .45ACP.

The Lee is apart and inventoried for repair parts. I figure it will cost approximately $56.00 (not counting shipping) to put it back in operation. This does not include powder drop and a few other assorted thingamabobs.

The MEC has serious cancer. Not sure if it can be saved. I'm going to have to dremel some of the bolt heads off due to rust.

I do not load shotgun, so this might only be an exercise in my meager talents as a machinist.

More to follow as I know more....

What a shame to see equipment let go that way. Maybe you can get something good out of it after all.

Don

Those were nice presses back in the day. Too bad they were forgotton.

I would be stopped cold by the condition of these presses by the amount of refurbish, machining, machining, descaling and parts replcements for these fossils which were never prime quailty tools to begin with.

Yep.
Sometimes the $5 the metal recycling yard would give you for these is the best deal of all. ;)

Well.... considering I tend to load anywhere from 500 to 1000 rds of pistol ammo at a wack..... with an old C-H Twim Beam press.... one at a time..... The Lee is right up-town for me.

But never have loaded shotgun...see no reason for it... don't shoot enough to warrant the expense.
