The 444 has a hammer extension and it is set up for a left handed shooter. I removed the set screw and the extension is loose but will not slide off the hammer. What is going on?

You're not stupid if you don't resort to the Guy Miner method of stubborn parts removal, normally consisting of a bigger hammer or a cutting blade, or both...

I've regretted my approach more than once. Study it out. Likely just needs to be worked off gradually.

Guy

Used a little Guy Miner method and tapped it with a punch and hammer and after 3 taps it was off the hammer and is now moved for the right handed shooter. (me)

There ya go! A more mature Guy Miner tries hard to remember the easy & gradual technique instead of just breaking things as I often did in the past...

Glad you got that lever gun squared away for right handed shooting! Looking forward to the range reports, and better yet, to seeing it posed with a big ol' buck...

Which bullets are you planning to use? I've heard good things about the 265 gr Hornady.

Guy

I would like to try the 265 Hornady's first. From there, maybe some the 300 Nosler or Sierra, or maybe hard cast. I don't know. On the hunt for brass right now.

As a member of the "SOS Generation" Slower Older & Smarter" I set here LMAO... :~) Most of my attempts at mechanical undertakings cost me more to hire a professional to fix what I broke.

Thanks for the chuckles guys... Good Hunting, hope the weather cooperates. Best, Rol
