As of today, May 17, 2013, no new semi-auto handguns will be added, or renewed, to the California Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale unless they incorporate microstamping technology. Just what is that you ask? Here is what that means according to the California Department of Justice:

“Therefore, to be listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale in California, a semiautomatic pistol must be equipped with micro stamping technology-i.e., a microscopic array of characters that identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol, etched or otherwise imprinted in two or more places on the interior surface or internal working parts of the pistol, and that are transferred by imprinting
on each cartridge case when the firearm is fired.”

...apparently there are now two companies that offer "micro-stamp technology", so the 2007 law is now in play...

...now, normally I'd feel compassion for our brethren who live under the heel of tyranny in CA, but @ some point pragmatism comes into play. These two companies are looking to make a "killing" by selling a forced product to the gun industry. If the gun manufacturers refuse to be held for ransom & pay for the technology & the high costs of "CA Certification", CA gun buyers will take a hit, but the micro-stamping co.'s will fold. If they bend over for CA, Portland, Seattle, Denver (OR, WA, CO are ruled by these cities) will jump on the bandwagon, along w/ all the other "Blue States". We just can't afford the nonsense coming out of CA any longer...

What a crock. Don't they know that microstamping is not 100% reliable? Its one of the easiest things to forge or fake. Good old California, land of the not so free.
