I take the wife deer and elk hunting. We started going two seasons ago while were still dating. I married into two step kids. They are too young yet but they enjoy watching deer and predator videos with me. My wife is not so hot on the dying rabbit calls but the kids love them LOL. While I was out muzzleloading last September, Kaylyn now 6 was home playing "hunting barbie" with a deer in the back of her pink barbie jeep. After watching some bone collector and realtree deer videos, I saw the kids taking turns as the bow hunter and deer. One will play shoot the other then count points, give high 5s and drag him/her off. Too funny! Especially, since they never show dragging deer in the videos. They also get out the wii guns while watching coyotes and take heart shots on yotes using thee coffe table as their rest.

Here's a picture of Layne and Kaylyn with her first bow. She really really wanted one for her birthday a few weeks ago. Just yesterday she's moved on to grunting them in before taking the shot LOL.

I took my wife on a turkey hunt and a bear hunt. My girls went deer hunting with me when they were young.
My oldest daughter is now expressing interest in hunting and wants to take hunter safety this summer.
I put my daughters boyfriend in one of my spots last fall and he shot a doe with my daughters help.

The future of hunting, fishing and shooting in North America will depend on women and girls joining in the sport. They will serve as a bulwark against the inroads of PETA arguing against hunting/shooting.

My wife loves the almost 4 weeks of deer hunting every year. She stays at home and I go 300 miles east to hunt. She is in to sewing and quilting about as bad as I am in to guns and hunting. She says that when I am gone hunting it really gives her time to do what she likes in her sewing room. We have no children so I go by my self.

Keep it up you guys, get em all involved. I took mine from diapers on up and not one of them took to it. They are outdoors people, mtn climbers, joggers/hikers but no hunters. Good luck.

Both of my Daughters are married now. The youngest still hunts with me, shot her first deer 2-yrs ago with the 150 AccuBond from the 30-06. She loves to go with me and I'm honored she is still interested. She got introduced to the 35 Whelen this past year, now she wants that gun to kill her first buck this year. Guess I'll be using the old 06 this year!!! :)

Don

Man, I know I would give my Whelen up to my son or daughter in a heartbeat! Matter of fact, that would be a good one for my son and elk/bear! Scotty

My wife has backpacked & camped with me many times. She likes to go with me when I fish, but wants nothing to do with handling the wet, wiggly fish... She has gone hunting with me, but really wants nothing to do with the animal until it's in packages wrapped for the freezer, or it's back from the taxidermist and ready to hang on the wall.

Daughters? None. My sons are interested in young ladies (18 - 25 is the current range I believe) though...

My wife and I have always been outdoorsy, she'll sit in a boat catching jack and wallys in pooring rain and never complian. She's been with me several times when I have taken a deer or moose or yote! but she just is not interested in pulling the trigger, one time we went out goose hunting and she ran a camera and she loved it, she thought maybe she would like to go out with me and actually shoot , then some one at her work told her that geese mate for life and that ended it.
My oldest girl is 5 and very soft hearted, I've been bringing her up to be a shooter, but even gophers are out for her. Targets she is ok with. My second girl wants to watch wild tv and see who has the biggest buck she is 3 and wants a peice of the action. her temperment is different then the oldest and it is noticable, she'd rather smack ya then argue with you, we're workin on that. I beleive I know who I'll be hunting with in the future but I am still workin on the other one.
This one is tuff to type, but my oldest child was a son that had a cord wrapped around his neck and died in the birth canal, he would have been coming 7 this past march. I miss alot about not having my littlee man with me, but I honestly Do Not treat my girls any different. I make sure of that. All I can say is time will tell, the 1 year old sure like the cabela's wood pop gun and is cute in pink cammo. YA I am DAmmned.

My mom doesn't hunt with us because she doesnt like the cold or getting up early. My 12 year old sister killed her first deer this year which was a 5x5 whitetail buck that ended scoring 130"!

Got the whole thing on video too!

My girlfriend also loves hunting too. She has taken whitetail bucks the last two years which have been her first two years hunting. She is putting the pressure on me to get her on a bull elk!

Of course I can't keep my son out of the woods or off the water. My daughter likes to fish but not hunt. My wife has started hunting with me as of 5 years ago. She has got her deer each year. No Elk yet, but she is trying.

This is her best buck so far.

Wow, great buck and congrats to her! Man, she did well on that one! Scotty

Deertracker and Teknys,

Your ladies have been spoiled with such excellent bucks. Congratulations to these ladies for some great game. Apparently, they had good guides.

My girlfriend likes to waterfowl hunt with me and got into deer hunting a a few years back. She has a 1187 20 ga for waterfowl and sporting clays and a Savage 270 Win for deer and hog hunting at a place we have access to near Brunswick Ga.

Great thread Guys.

My wife is not a hunter, likes to fish (comfortably I might add). But loves deer sausage and fresh fish. She likes to help cut meat and do sausage.

My oldest daughter is kinda softhearted. Liked Doesnt care to kill, but likes to shoot, has hunted with me several yrs and just the other day asked if we could go duck hunting this yr. But shes almost 19 and at that stage where they gotta figure out what they enjoy, do what they want to do & explore the world.

My 16 yr daughter, loves deer hunting season, does all but yield the gutting knife... Shooting handgun, shotgun, fireworks, run machinery, get in fenderbenders and push mom & dad's buttons. But she is a great kid and showing no signs of troubles yet......

I brought up to the girls that when they come to leave the nest that I would like to get them a firearm to take with them for fun and self-defense. I asked if they would like a handgun or a shotgun and both got all excited about the prospect of their own "personal" shotgun.

I live with 3 women and two stoopid dogs, my job is to keepem all happy. They love me and thats all that matters.. 8)

My wife has fired exactly 4 rounds of centerfire rifle ammo in her life.
She's killed 3 does and a 130 inch 4x4 whitetail with those 4 rounds.
She likes to deer hunt. She likes to fish. She is a CHL holder and knows how to run her Glock 22 and her Kel-Tec 32 as well.

I can't get her to go on a waterfowl hunt though.Have to get up to early, yada yada yada.
She will whip her weight in wildcats though for sandhill crane breasts fresh off the grill.....
