Those who shoot skeet/trap like myself know of Zoli shotguns, but I've never handle nor taken a Zoli rifle down at the range.

There is a reputable dealer in the Cdn west that has one in stock (new never fired). No idea if the price is right. No idea of the quality of it. Really not much to go on.

Not asking in order to purchase it tonight, but I like to gain knowledge on subject that I love, so lets have it :)

It is chambered in one of the caliber that I'd go with though..

Cheers
Ben

The owner of the shop said that the wood was simply gorgeous in person, the bolt really smooth, a very crisp and clean trigger and some nice detailed engraving on the metal work.

Why would the owner put putting it up for consignment, if it's that much of a quality rifle, other than a financial decision gone wrong and buyers remorse :?

I dont think it is buyers remorse. The price is a little high for my wallet, but I have had the opportunity to handle one ( but did not shoot it ) and it was VERY nice--looks, feel, action--a beautiful rifle

It is a very old family business and I believe it is now run by the grandson or possibly the great, great grandson. The one thing I did not like was that it was push feed, but that is strictly a matter of preference on my part. They do make their own action and I am sure it is a nice one. Besides shotguns they also make drillings, and from memory they still make their own barrels. When I tried to talk to them all I could get was an answer machine and they didnt call back for over a month because they were in Italy. However this was last year, that may have changed.

The firm has made firearms for more than 600 years, so they have some experience on their side. Their bolt action rifle enjoys a fine reputation throughout Europe. The primary importer for Canada is in Quebec (http://www.armurier-quebec.com/pages/zoli_eng.html). I suspect that it would be an excellent rifle to own. Prophet River is a well-respected firm that provides a fair price for what it markets. If the consignment is accepted by them, I wouldn't think it to be excessive.

The shop in Qc that you're referring too Mike is owned by the gunsmith who'll be installing a brake on my next rifle.

Clay @ Prophet River has been great to talk and deal with, highly recommend him to anyone as well. I'm waiting to hear back from him as to which model it is exactly.

Dr. mike is spot on. A friend we hunt with has one and loves it. It is an excellent gun. If there is a negative for you it is repair, if needed. Make sure you buy it from one of their distributors and preferably one you know and trust. Apparently Dr. Mike knows the people selling this gun, as do you and you both respect that company, so you should have no issues.

I did notice the push feed was mentioned. They do make their own actions and it is a push feed-sort-of. However, they will make a CRF and have. Remember they are basically a custom rifle operation with everything being made, in house. What action the rifle you are looking at has, I would not know.

We see a lot of rifles from Antonio Zoli, but more doubles, drillings, and shotguns than bolt actions. We have never heard anyone complain about the rifle or company

Thank you as well for your input AH.

I talked with the Canadian distributor and he mentioned that the action used, under license, was a Husqvarna action, so perhaps that would be what its in. Price point in Cdn is between $1,000 and $3,000 for their higher end models.

PropherRiver isn't an authorised dealer, but he is a great guy to deal with. As it is a used rifle, I haven't looked into any of the terms of repairs/warranty.

All in all it seems like a pretty good buy for the money for whoever ends up buying it.

Glad we could all learn a little bit more about them

The Husqvarna is a slightly modified mauser 98 action and are IMHO one of the best actions available for a custom build. It would be a CRF and therefore again IMHO an excellent gun at a good price. I believe the ad said it had never been fired and is on consignment, so you might ask if the original warranty from the manufacturer can be part of the purchase. Best of luck sir

Like scotty, I had never really heard of them. But glad you ask, some great info posted and I know of them now.

Zoli 1900 bolt actions are the same action as the Husqvarna/Carl Gustaf/FFV 1900 sporting rifle - definately a push feed. (I have a Carl Gustaf 1900 in .270 Win - the smoothest pure (all steel) action I have ever used, a lovely thing).
