Anyone use these?

Pop,

Never used one but I have heard of doing this. Would save you money by getting longer case life.
Let us know if you get one and how well it works.

I fail to understand how it works.

One of the reviewers gave an explanation, here it it:

This device functions by punching a slightly larger than primer size, shallow hole in the top third of the primer pocket. The primer pocket material compresses inward in a ridge about halfway down the pocket, causing this area to grip the primer very firmly

Seems like when the primer pocket is loose we have either shot this case enough times or have had hot loads in it. Don't know if I would want to continue to shoot that case.Rick.

I have to agree with this. I think I would rather error on the side of safety and pitch the case. I have not gotten to be that big of a penny pusher yet.

I'm in the "cut your losses and chuck the case" crowd, but with a twist. Since the price of metals has skyrocketed, I'm saving up a bin of junk brass (split necks, crunches underfoot at the range (not my brass, but junk I find), range brass in general, loose primer pockets, etc.) that will eventually make their way to the local recycler to at least allow me to garner a few pennies on the dollar for my unusable brass.

Yep, I'm "Going Green" on my brass as well.

Hart & Co. (and others) makes a series of these types of tools for swaging primer-pockets larger and SMALLER. Some match shooters wish to use small primers in their cases that were originally swagged to accept only a larger primer. IIRC, that group of shooters is trying to get a milder primer flash into the powder charge, so the smaller primers.

Yep... believe this is a bench-rest shooters trick......?

I see it more of a band-aid rather than a resolution.

When I got into BR we used the Sako 220 Russian case to make 6ppc brass and the primer pocket was the weak link. Some used a lathe to open the primer pocket then bush them and those cases lasted a long time. I've got some of those cases and if I ever get better at posting picture I'll post some pictures.

I think some commerical reloaders have a swag tool for the primer pocket they will do pistol brass and may work for rifle cases.

I am not getting it. Something about placing a bandaid over a bullet wound. At least it feels that way. Just was wondering if there were any users out there.

Interesting concept though.
