About a year 1/2 ago I was approached and asked to be a Range Officer / Instructor with our local group of a National Organization. Armed Women of America. In addition to other “how not to be a victim“ seminars and training we spend one weekend a month at our local range, March-maybe thru October. Too much snow after that and all the instructors are elk hunting. The ladies ran from 12 to 89 today. They were divided into groups, stone cold haven’t ever touched a pistol to some pretty hi speed shooters. I was with the rookies, couldn’t have had more fun.
I would encourage any of you who are capable instructors to get involved. It’s low stress and fun.

I don't make the pic, certainly not the photographer Guy is! The near purple hat is my 89 year old trying to stuff a magazine with her arthritic hands. I think she's down to about 800 acres but still runs her farm. She was a hell of a lot of fun.

When I was in the Hunter Ed program, many times during one of the breaks some of the mothers would come up to me and ask if I would teach them how to shoot a handgun that their husband bought them and did nothing. I would always say I would and let them know my wife would be along so that they'd feel more comfortable. That went a long way toward driving those off that were more in mind of a little hanky panky. It was fun and I enjoyed doing it but it came to an end when I dropped out of the program. I gave 16 years to the program and when the knees gpt worse I figured it was time. I do miss it though.
