Hank,

Give us a few details. This was apparently earlier in the season. Tell us about the hunt, about the rifle, etc.

Very nice bull, congrats. You need to give us more details man :)

Hank that is a dandy Bull congratulations. Looking forward to the story behind it.

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks guys, my bull was taken on Nov 06. very unseasonable weather. Set up camp on Nov 01 in region 8-14. Tried for too many years to get this draw so hunted hard dawn to dusk every day. Put lots of miles on the old boots in some real rugged but beautiful terrain. On the sixth morning did my usual, into a likely area before daylight and out of the truck into a timber fringe that led to a huge cutblock. moving slowly and glassing constantly. 2 hours later seen nothing but muley does headed back to my vehicle to go check another spot. while unloading my gun I caught this guy out the corner of my eye 600 yards above me in the timber edge. tried to close the distance but got busted at about 400 yards away. Was shooting a brand new Savage 270 wsm that had been to the range twice. 140 AccuBond 64g RL22 chronied at 3230 average. Took 3 solid hits behind the front shoulder. First 2 he did not even flinch and I knew I smoked him both times. Third shot he disappeared from sight and the climb up the hill was on. He fell right where he stood. After all the work I ranged the shots at 360 yards on the closest reference point. My draw of a lifetime and for this area a real trophy bull. Co said the biggest one he had seen in his 8 years here.

He's a really nice moose especially for southern B.C, congrats. Many nice meals you will have there :)

That's a great area, Hank. I never hunted it, but I did fish it quite a bit twenty years ago. I saw a good amount of game while fishing. I'm glad you got the draw, and it is great that you found that big boy. The 270WSM has worked well for me on several moose and elk thus far. You done good. Congratulations.

That is a dandy moose! Congratulations and that was also some excellent shooting. Nothing wrong with that 270 WSM I guess!

WOW! Hank, that is a GREAT moose! Congrats. Great shooting buddy! You hammered him.

Hank,
What a Brute of a Bull, a real Trophy. Congrats on getting him and some fine shooting. Nosler delivers again!

Don

Congrats, that is 1 fine bull!!..I hope I am as lucky as you, well be in newfoundland from nov 17-24...Lou

CONGRATS !!! This caliber and bullet combo works AWESOME!!!

I know b/c I use the exact same setup. Actually I have 2, 1 shoots reloads the other (wife's) she shots factory Winchester Supreme AB's.

My reloads are with Retumbo.

My wife took her first bull moose a few years back when our 1st boy was 6 months old. 2 shots to the lungs at 325m, and the bull was down. i was proud!! First shot was good but the bull turned and ran about 20m to edge of timber and I told her to shoot again. Bullet placement was within couple inches

It is a favorite! One of the the easiest to shoot well and put a lot of energy on target!
