I hate to be the new guy starting a bunch of threads but not having much input, but I can't find much mention on the forum about the Ballistic Silver tip bullets.

I have found other places state they are the same as the regular ballistic tips but just wanted to find out from the forum of the maker. The descriptions are the same except the lubalox coating.

Any special reloading considerations because of the lubalox coating?

For whitetail deer, any advantage in the AccuBond over the ballistic tip/ballistic silver tip? Will the ballistics hold up on an impact with bone? one expand faster than another?

Thanks to you guys looking at picking up some 160grain accubonds for the 280ai, but still have a 243 to load up for deer, and a 338-06AI that will probably be loaded with hornady GMX & FTX's (have a box of each, cheaper for fireforming and should do well on deer) but will be looking at what nosler round for deer/bear with that one too so I can work out of one reloading manual for a while.

In my limited experience, the coating will leave a black residue in the bore, but it cleans easily. Expect a couple coal black patches when cleaning the barrel. The third patch comes out almost clean. The coating also eliminated copper fouling.

Like you, I was told (had read) that they behave on game similarly to the BT. Don't know about that yet.

They look really cool loaded in nickel cases.... :) BT

The BST performs essentially identical to the BT. It is an excellent bullet, which is a primary reason it has survived with Combined Technology.

They are identical to regular BT's and if your lucky, you can buy them as 2nds from the Pro Shop for a pretty decent price break. One bullet to keep a look for would be the 200 BST for your 338-06, as those are pretty tough pills and the price is real nice if you catch them as 2nds.

They look cool in brass cases, they are just one cool bullet. I love the 180gr in an 30-06
