OK, I realize this is a Nosler-oriented web site, but it is also a reloading forum.

While I use some Nosler bullets, for most purposes I have other bullets I prefer.

???

Other bullet manufacturers are routinely mention here. IMO, this is a great way to learn about other manufacturers bullets and not have to pay to do the testing your self.

I also believe Nosler has a large cutomer base that it loyal to the Nosler brand, I know I am unless they do not have a product availabe (not made) to fit my needs.

I belong to another forum that has very strict rules concerning the "competition", for example,

"2) Advertisement of products, goods and services, other than those offered by ********, is prohibited. You may not post links to any person or business providing products, goods and services other than ********. Links to Internet sites of manufacturers or vendors that provide products, goods and services to ******** will be allowed for purposes of accessing information about them. "

Not only is it allowed, its encouraged! We are here to learn and help each out out. Sharing your experiences is a great way for the rest of us to learn.
Its also a good way for Nosler to know what else is going on in the industry.

Can't agree more with what's already been said. 75% of what I send down the pipe is Nosler, the remaining 25% is a scattering of other manufacuters.
The forum is a great place to learn from others and others product experiences.

Also as JD mentioned, I would hope that Nosler would certianly encourage it as it's basically free info for them. Rather than spending $$$ on Focus groups / querys etc the data base can reside right here......

Alot of what I use is Nosler, the minority is Sierra & Hornady. I have used Speer also. I really like the way Hornady bullets shoot for the pricepoint, very accurate. Unfortunately, the on game performance is not good enough to use on trophy animals. I've seen alot of jacket seperation on WT Deer, I don't want to chance using them on Elk or Moose. No complaints about Sierra, good bullet, but I really prefer the Poly tips on Noslers for uniform COL.

The biggest issue we have in Canada is the price of premuim bullets here.
Berger VLD's are 49/100 here and even 257 Hornady 117grn BTSP are 29/100. I think that the merchants may be taking the exchange rate they did when exchange was %50.

I think Nosler has a reputation that they are not soon to loose. Furthermore, Nolser and everyother bullet maker are in the same game, they all hunt...just because they are in competition does not mean that they should be enemies.

There are a lot of good bullet makers out there, personally, I am a Nosler man, myself.

Ditto,
Heck we even have "energetic" discussions about which Nosler bullet is most appropriate. This is a pretty open forum and I believe a large part of it's strength comes from comparisons of brands based on results.(pictures) In my case I havn't found any other brand to come close to Nosler(In the caliber and weight bullets they make).
Now if they just made more weights in some calibers!! .416, 458,.323 Accubonds.

I'll admit I'm a bullet whore! When I saw prices starting to climb on reloading compontes I started buying whatever people were selling. I have a bunch of Nosler, Sierra, Hornady, and Speer bullets. I find for most of my hunting of deer and pronghorn just about any bullet will do since I don't have many Magnum cartridges.

When I go for elk or larger game then the nod goes to the Partition. I killed my second elk and everyone there after with a .270 Win and the 150 grain NP and never looked back and really haven't considered any other premium bullets when I felt the situation warranted one. First elk actually fell to a .30-06 and factory 180 grain CXP3 ammunition.

I really like the Ballistic tips for all my varmint shooting and will probably go with them or the V-max in my .204 Ruger when I start to reload for it. The only down side is my .243 Win doesn't like the 55 grain ballistic tips and I got almost 350 of them on my bench from a trade. The ballistic tip get the nod in my .223 as well.

Honestly, I switch the most back and forth between Sierra and Nosler as these seem to be the most accurate bullets in the majority of my rifles. I haven't got any yet buy I'm looking forward to trying some 200 grain Accubonds in my .338-06. I haven't tried any Accubonds to date but this seems like the one I should try first.

One of the strengths of the Nosler site is the freedom to discuss in a dispassionate and fair-minder manner the full spectrum of bullets and/or brass that are available in the marketplace. This site allows such openness, it seems to me, because Nosler has no fear of their products withstanding careful scrutiny and/or comparison to other products. Bravo, Nosler, for an open site.

You sure can discuss other bullets on this forum. I should know, I sure have, favoring some other brand at times and then favoring Nosler brand. Some of my guns shoot other brands better some shoot Nosler and then Noslers are the only bullet I want to use for a good tough bullet like the AccuBond or Partition. Nosler is not afraid of competition because they make a good competitive product and I love the Ballistic Tip.

Absolutely! Why not? Everyone (more or less) has done it here one time or another.

I think we all have at least one firearm that for some reason likes a particular bullet when we would rather be shooting something else. I like most of you prefer the Noslers but do have one rifle in particular that just simply is more accurate with a different brand. I have always found the freedom of discussion here is a big + and the general feeling is what ever shoots most accurate and WILL PERFORM THE TASK AT HAND.

I mentioned to quite a few people that I thought this was a most informative group most willing to help people without being too critical. IE a good understanding and how to relate it knowing there is more than one way to skin a cat. Thanks again

Thanks - glad to hear we can talk about others as well.

(Hmmm... just noticed this is the 'Hunting' forum, not the 'Handloading and Reloading' forum...oh, well...)

Since we can mention others, I have an confession to make. I started big game hunting in 1982, using a 7mm Rem Mag. For 20 years that was my only bolt gun and hence my primary hunting rifle. (About one day a year I also used a Browning B92 in .44 Mag that Dad had given me.)

My backup ammo for all those years was Federal's 160g Nosler Partition loads. But I never needed my backup ammo and, in fact, can't think of a single big game animal that I've taken with a Nosler bullet of any kind.

These days I still have a box of those Federal Partitions around, but since I reload I don't shoot them.

In fact, the only Nosler bullets I load these days are 110g AB’s and 120g Partitions for my .257 Roberts and 170g Partition RN’s for my .30-30. None of them have been used on game yet.

Nosler 40g work great for 'yotes in my .22-250, though.

Welcome to the forum !

I've launched a lot of 40gr-ers out of my 22-250 and have actually setteled on the 55gr ( Blitz-King ) In all fairness, the B-tip is every bit as accurate and has the same POI swithing direclty back and forth.

I just found out last weekend that the 180gr B-tip out of my .300RUM does a decent job on the yoytes too...

With only a couple of exceptions I have used ballisticaly similar bullets to get "on paper/dead center", normally Sierra GameKing, and then verify those results with my Nosler "hunting" bullets. I use the NP in almost all my big game rifles. The only exceptions being the CT 230gr failsafe in my 338 WM, and my 416 Rigby which has had several different bullets through it, but it gives me the best accuracy with the Barnes 400gr TSX, so thats what I feed it.
