I was wondering if it would be proper to try to straighten some of my crooked case necks. And how to go about it? Thanks.

Are you talking about if you seat the bullet too deep and the shoulder caves in a littlie bit? If thats the case Ive done that and you can try chambering it in you rifle, if it does not, try setting the shoulder back a couple of thousanths and try it again. You can fireform the case back to use again. I've done this on a 2508 imp., 260 rem and a few others. good luck , Rick

Exactly what do you mean by "Crooked" case necks. Are they dented, deformed, or have excessive "Runout"? Got any pictures?

I'm talking about cases with excesive runout. Any way to straighten them out? I've resized them again, but still too far out.I've thought about sticking them in a piece of hard oak with a hole in it,& just bending them,but....?

I just went through this with my die set-ups. Excessive neck runout is usually caused by the expander being off center. Pulling it back through will cause a "crooked neck". Fine tuning your die so the expander is centered is the key.

What type of dies are you using and what are you using to measure "runout"?

I'm checking the runout with a Forester bullet checker.I'm useing Redding dies.I'get .002" or less out of most rounds I load up.I'll have a couple out of a batch that will be .003"-.006".Usually about 1-2 in 10 will be this way. My brass is Winchester & I usually get .002" case neck deviation. My neck turner isn't here yet.So I don't mind them being .002" out.But as this is my competition rifle It has to be better.
