4th annual cougar camp. Looks like we will have a pretty good group this year. Location is just west of cabin lake gaurd station, 10 miles north of the town of fort rock on the 18rd. west 3/4mile on the 2435. 2012 cougar tag is your ticket

I camped at a wide spot in the road, about 10 miles north of Fort Rock two years ago. Pretty doggone empty country.

Best of luck on the cat hunt. Calling or dogs or?

I'm guessing that since it is in Oregon there will be no dogs :x . Sounds like a great time! If my wife wasn't about to pop out a baby I might have to load up and head that way. I have never seen a cougar, and want one on the wall really bad!

Good luck!

Maybe we need to get into Idaho for a cat hunt Jake....

10 miles north of fort rock, is the boundry of ponderosa forest/sage. Camp is in the center of the muledeer and elk winter range. In feb the country is anything but empty. Dog with hounds are illegal in oregon and the reason we do cougar camp.

Yup, we camped real close to the edge of the forest, then went down and shot a few sage rats down around Fort Rock. Just me and my son. It was a good trip. I've been through that country a few times, always wanted to stay longer.

Best of luck on the cougar hunt!

10 days. Road access is better than we have seen for several years. That can change fast but this year we may get to hunt some areas not hunted in years except by snowmobile hunters. Fresh sign 1/30 near hole in the ground
