Finally had some time this morning to sling some 120 grain 6.5 " Chocolate Chips" at the range. It's the first time using Ballistic Tips in the Creedmoor. Loaded 2 foulers, and the rest are 3 shot groups in .3 increments @ 100 yards.
Full sized bushing / with button removed, used .262" carbide mandrel to open up the necks
H4350 , BR2 primers , BTO : 2.283" ( .005" off lands )

Grains / FPS
43.0 / 2918 - 2923 ( Foulers )
43.3 / 2927 - 2925 - 2927
43.6 / 2929 - 2942 - 2943
43.9 / 2964 - 2949 - 2962
44.2 / 2977 - 2980 - 2979
44.5 / 2995 - 2996 - 2992
44.8 / 3016 - 3012 - 3014
45.1 / 3023 - 3019 - 3001

No pressure or flattened primers seen, but I will stop here, no need to chase velocity any further since I see some great groups here. I knew I would see some positive results since Ballistic Tips worked very well for me in various rifles.

I was leaning on picking 44.8 grains to retest. What do you guys pick?

Any of those three would be good but yes I would pick the same as you and pick the one in the middle too since it in theory would be the most stable load. That's some fantastic accuracy, your load work is done! Nice shooting.

I would go with 44.8g all day...Its in the middle of a great node, the ES is great, and the groups are great as well. I'd say 44.8g at 3015fps and be done with it. Excellent results! I'm also curious as to the rifle?

You won't go wrong with any of those loads. Clearly the rifle works with the particular combination and is very forgiving of the charge. I'm not greatly surprised at the forgiving nature of that particular propellant working with the modest charge. The standard deviation on any of the loads portends a stable load. I'd likely choose as you have simply to wring out a measure of velocity to up the kinetic energy on the terminal ballistics.

Good to see most agreed on 44.8 grains.
Thanks for the kind words.

No wonder they all shot so good lol, Bartleins are awesome. Slick rifle, top notch components, great rifle builder, and looks like you did the rest. Very nice!

Excellent shooting!

You obviously found just the right amount of milk to go with those chocolate chips!

And yes, that's quite a rifle... Very nice.

Went back to the range and sighted in for 100 yards , ATACR turret reads 0 and dead on @100 and good to see the POI is the same elevation at the 143 ELD-X and just a quarter inch to the right. Calibrated turret to 1.25 for 200 yards, bang and dead on, adjusted turret to 3.25 for 300 yards, bang and a quarter inch to the right. Rifle is set to bang flop a deer this season, hopefully.

After sighting it in, lined up 5 water jugs and a 5 gallon bucket of water behind it , just in case,
First two water jugs was obliterated and found the cup and core resting in the bottom of 4th jug. Retained weight is 61.6 grains. It shed half of its weight, with the lead piece weighing at 18.7 grains. Hopefully its enough retained weight to do a bang flop.

Muzzle velocity - 3015 fps
Impact velocity - 2801 fps
Muzzle energy - 2422 ft-lbs
Impact energy - 2090 ft-lbs

Retained weight - 61.6 grains

Oh, I think that will do just fine. It looks similar to a lot of "soft" bullets I've recovered from deer, particularly when shot with higher velocity cartridges. I think all that shrapnel contributes to quick kills. Kinda hard to go on living when the lungs are shredded.

You've certainly got the rifle and load figured out. Now - go find a deer! :)

For kicks and due to boredom, went back to my bench and measured expansion diameter. Not bad.
