Nice. I just put the scope back on the 300WSM yesterday. Should have it out in the next couple of days to get the rifle zeroed and start building the range card.

Good groups.
If you hunt where there is a lot of wind, I would go with the 180s over the 165s. If it isn't too windy, you're still in very good shape with the 165s. At what distance from the animal(s) do you think you'll be when you shoot? If you're +300yds, practice at that distance if it is possible. Inside of 200yds its a different game, so to speak.
Good luck out there.

...shoot out 500M on a regular basis w/ .325 WSM, .300WSM, 7mm RM, .25 WSSM, & .223. My elk season runs from 10/1-12/23, generally 2 elk/ yr., may do 3 this yr. Long season, I'm fair perticuler about my shots, pass on a lot of 400yd. shots, majority of my 17 elk in WY have been 200-300yds. from a pre-planned ambush, if the wind's howling I'll wait till I've got a closer shot. I just like the GrandSlams cause I've been shooting them for 35yrs. Usually starts out looking something like this...

Great photo. Looking at it, I remember why I keep going back to Wyoming to hunt...

Gene, your season is coming together nicely. That's a great picture of the elk.
