Whenever we obtain groups like that, we can each smile. Fine looking piece of craftsmanship that produces such targets.

Nice shooting! Nice looking rifle.
Tell us more about your rifle.

Yeah, tell us about that 25-284. That looks like a pretty awesome round and that rifle is really nice. Never thought of a 25-284. What length action is it built on? That looks like a screamer. Scotty

Intriguing round for sure. I think the most popular wildcat off the 284 Win is the 6.5-284.
Your 25-284 is right up there with the 257 Wby!

That is impressive, and it's a great looking rifle as well. Am I correct in guessing that's a Boyds wood laminate stock?

Good looking rifle that shoots great! I've got a real soft spot for quarter bores of pretty much any kind.

Am really liking what little I can see of that portable shooting bench too... I need to build something like that for varmint shooting adventures next spring...

Remington 40X single shot short action. I got it for a top end varmint rifle project 15 or so years ago but never got around it (lack of funds)
Being a single shot I had the throat cut long and seat them way out. The base of the 115gr NBT barely goes past the shoulder junction.
Timney trigger.
It is a Boyd's classic stock, color is Desert Camo. I find the Boyd's classic are a perfect fit for my freakish body.
Leupold 4.5x-14x-40 scope in Leupold lapped duel dovetail rings. Fine duplex reticle, wish I got the varmint reticle instead after using my friends scope
25-284 is just a short action 25-06. It does the same thing and uses the same load data.
Barrel is 26" long to wring out a little more velocity.
I built it up for Antelope/deer a couple years ago (at the same time the ammo/reloading components went scarce) just got around to load testing this year. Going to bust some coyotes with it this winter.
I got my shooting bench in Montana about 20 years ago and it was one of my best investments. It's made from 1.5" marine grade plywood, legs are 1.5" heavy galvanized pipe. Very solid to shoot off.
Rest is a Sinclair with Protektor bags

Mmmmmmm... everyone loves a sexy quarterbore!

Those 115 NBTs will be hell on coyotes... shot more than a few dogs with them myself. Lately my big bullet of choice for the .25 is the 115 Berger... but the 115 NBT can definately hold its own with any 1/4" bullet around.

Man, all this talk about 1/4 bores! I can't wait to get home and start looking around for one. Scotty

Scotty -
You really do need one :p !! I had my 25-06 out at the range for a final tuneup yesterday. I am amazed at how well that Tika shoots.

Have you shot any rounds through a chronograph? Just interested in what the velocities are like compared to a 25-06. You said you used the same load data, but I would think the 25-284 would be a little faster with the efficiency of the cartridge. What powder are you using with 115BT's?

My go to load is 55gr RE25 with a 115NBT for 3122fps and 54gr RE25 with a 120NPT for 3050fps.
I use a little less powder then the 25-06, but it's only a few grains (1-4 grains depending on loading manual) and could be rifle to rifle variation or the fact it's a custom rifle with a tighter chamber/bore plus it has a 26" barrel.
Played with a few other powders/bullets but so far RE25/115NBT has been the best. Going to run it over the chroney this winter to see the velocity loss. Not sure how sensitive RE25 is as I have not used it much, I'm mostly a Hodgdon guy.
