do to, to much penetration on deer the last few seasons. i'm going back to the ballistic tip for deer hunting. i used them for dozens of deer in the past. but with the introduction of the AccuBond then the etip i stopped. i did not even have a 150gr ballistic tip in stock to work up a new load with for a ruger 77 MKII 300 win mag. the rifle i plan to hunt high desert mule deer with this fall. with the good results i have been getting with H1000 gives me the powder i'm going to use. only primers i have are CCI 250. Nosler #6 lists it as the most accurate powder with a max of 84gr, 3237fps. so this is my goal. work up loads are done. saturday is forcast to be sunny. for a range day

I've used 180 bt's in my 300 bee to take a few hogs and deer without making a mess of them , even put one htrough the shoulders of a buck without destroying them so Im on your side.

for many years i killed deer with 120gr, 140gr 7mm ballistic tips, 150gr,165gr 30 cal ballistic tips, every deer dropped right there. some where a little messy. the last few with accubonds, etip. have run a ways so i'm going back to bang flop

I think Ballistic tips get a bum rap from folks with bad shot placement. The bullet was not designed to bust thru both shoulders. They were designed for thin skinned, light boned game.

There is not much more satisfying (in the hunting world) than putting the crosshairs just aft of the shoulder in the bolier room and watching that critter go down almost instantly. Thats the Ballistic Flip magic..

I have been using them exclusivley for taking whitetails and coyotes without a bullet failure since the early mid 90's..

Ballistic tips may be made for thin skinned game, but the last two pigs I shot with ballistic silver tips, both went thru and thru the head. I'm very impressed but yet sad as I wanted to see how the bullet expanded.

first attempt was unsatisfactory, good consistant velocity but stringing. next test will be after trigger work. and decelerator butt pad i hope
