Has any one bought new Federal brass before???? I just my order in from Graf and Sons and to my surprise, the 338RUM brass I ordered is primed. Does anyone know if it's GM215M or just their standard 215 primer? My guess is the standard 215 for this cartridge.

I got brass, bullets, dies, and powder. Just need to get the rifle and a scope (big $$$$$$$$).

You're on your way!!
I got on the Federal ammunition site and asked the question about the primers.

I bought a couple bags of the Federal primed 338 RUM brass (1 bag for my nephew)
They are using the standard 215 primer.

Did you get your rifle yet?

Not yet. I'll probably end up getting the XCR. The North American SS is just way to much ($2300), being that I can get the XCR for under 900.

Well, looks like I get to deprime my brass. I use the GM215M

I deprimed the Federal cases, that is how I know they are using the std 215.
The XCR is a nice rifle, that is what my nephew has that I have been working with.

I run Federal brass in my 308 and 7mm Mag. One thing about it, the primer pockets loosen up on quite a few after as little as 2 firings. This is a trademark of federal it seems. I go through all the prep steps and then go to prime them and end up tossing some because the primer goes in so sloppy loose. I have not had this problem with Win and Rem brass.

JD338, have you experienced any of these problems with your Fed 338RUM brass??? Just curious if I need to stock up on some Rem brass.
