...................That`s better than the 150 grainers you were thinking about! The velocity @ 2740 fps. listed by Midway or Federal for the 180 grain may be a little high though for the 308 Win......My Sierra manual shows a max. of 2600 fps from a 26" barrel. But, only a chrony will tell the tale for sure in your particular rifle with this ammo or reloads!..............Still, the 180 gr. even at a slower 2600 fps. MV, is still better for elk IMO, than a faster 150 gr.

i do not believe you will get the published velocity, 2550fps would be my guess if you have a cronograph. it would be interesting to see the results
