Got some 140 AccuBond yesterday. Loaded up 6 shots 3 with 40 g of varget and 3 with 40.5 of varget. Fps on the 40.5 load was 2565. This is the 20in 7mm08. Never have done a ladder test so I guees I am going to start with the 40.5 load and work up. Any advice on what to look for would be great here are the pics can you tell me anything from looking at these

the last picture is of a 120g Hornady hp at about 2600. Point of impact is dead on at a 100 yards with the 120s. So I know I need to adjust poi. I am using Hornady brass fed 210 primers varget and collision 2.800. Thank yall

I measured the groups and all of them were 3/4 of a inch. Just for reference for yall wondering.

Seems like you ve got a good shooting load right now. If you re looong for more velocity I ve used Varget up to 42.5 grains and had sub MOA accuracy. Work up slowly as each gun is unique. I ve seen as much as a grain or grain and a half difference between what guns will tolerate.

With that sorta accuracy I would just work up to 2750-2800 with the 20" tube. That looks like it is going to be a great load! Nice shooting

It looks to me like you got a pretty darn good shooting consistent gun! If it were me I would keep working towards a Max load at .5 grains increment and see if not only the group stay tight but they stay in approximately the same point of impact on the target. And if you can do this shooting at 200 yards you might learn even more.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking if I could get to 2750 and still have the accuracy that I have now I would be where I need to be. Going to try to load some more tonight. Could someone run that through QL with the 140 AccuBond varget and a 20in barrel 7mm 08. Coal length is 2.800. Thank you.

I had a QL run for me a couple of years ago, but with a 22" barrel. Looks like a 20" tube runs about 100fps lower than what that QL lists. I think 2750 fps is going to be a bit wishful without going over pressure. I'd expect 2650-60 to be about tops. Still, that's plenty of speed.

Try Big Game, it's all I use in 4 7mm-08s with 140 AB and Partition. I get much greater velocity than with Varget.

47.5 gr is max, work up. Scary accurate.

I think there's something wrong with your program. Nosler max for both powders show as dangerous do not use.

47.5 gr Big Game does not generate 70k psi.

Probably right. The burn rates are off sometimes.
Get me some capacities and speeds and I'll adjust it

There, fixed it

And...be a little careful of Varget with quickload....my actual chrono results are almost always a little hotter than what quickload thinks they're going to be..... it could just be a lot to lot variation but be a little conservative.

I've had great success with RL-15 and the 140's in my Hart barreled Wby/Howa 7mm-08. Try not to worry too much about the velocity since your rifle is only wearing a 20" barrel. Mine was only 2" longer and what it came in contact with bullet wise never knew the difference between 2700 fps or 2800.

I think there's something wrong with your program. Nosler max for both powders show as dangerous do not use.

47.5 gr Big Game does not generate 70k psi.

Keep in mind that Quickload is just a guide, its not to be used as reference on pressure / powder charge and without fired case fills we cannot get the correct data. I even ran Quickload and my data is exactly the same as his, including the Varget load which was very close to the Nosler manual pressure / charges except the RamShot, even my 7 mm Magnum shows ridiculous information as well but mostly other calibers are just fine. We use load manuals for powder weight information and minimum / maximum charges are stipulated in there and we use that and start low and work up and read pressure and stop when you see pressure and back off. I am sure we all know that, once we get fired cases and we weigh the fired cases ( dry and filled with H20 then subtract for final weigh )for correct H20 case fill to enter into QL for that specific cartridge and then tweaking the Ba rate to match the velocity on those rounds fired through the chrono plus the OAL data. The results will be different from the data we draw up like shown above.

Looking good there Michael. See if you can use .3 increments to see if you can find the node and work from there, maybe tweaking OAL length may tighten them up some. Varget is a great powder, good luck shooting.

Well went back out today. Had about a ten mph wind from left to right. Started with 41g 41.5 then 41.8. 41.8 gave me a 3 shoot average velocity of 2700fps! And my best group to date .530!!! I am still .2 grains off of book max. I think I will stop right here. 41 g and 41.5 opened up to a little over a inch. Point of impact on the 41.8 load came up about a 1.5 from 40.5. I learned a lot from doing this work up. I really appreciate all the help from yall.

Nice shooting!
The QL is pretty close to what you saw.
You have a good load but just for fun you might try a quarter turn deeper on your seater. Might really get good.

Thank you! Yes I went back and looked at QL it was right where I am. Yeah I may fool with it a little more. I am really pleased. This is a bone stock savage youth trophy hunter 11 xp with a Nikon 3x9x40 bdc scope. I need to stretch it out to 200 and see what it does.
