It is right around the corner. I have my trusty firehawk cleaned up and ready. I am shooting 100grs of 777 lit by a 209 shoving 300gr .452 XTPS in Knight HP sabots for 1856fps and 1.25" groups at 100 yards. I have a Khanke 82 .54 caliber pistol shooting 425gr Great Plains bullets over 70grs of FFF for 1300fps. Recoil is very stout. I have a new toy. Made in 1978 but unfired at least for the next few days, a H&R .58 cal Huntsman. I am going to start with 560gr maxis and 70 grs of 777. Should be entertaining in this very light gun. Waht are you gents shooting? reflex264

I took a large cow moose this year with my encore 209x50 shooting 2 777 magnum pellets and 209prmer. Clocks right around 2000fps out of the encores 26" barrel. I used the barnes 250gr Expander MZ sabot. Worked flawlessly. I had been a little worried about penetration with that light bullet with such a huge hollow point. These things look like flying shot glasses. Worry was for naught because after breaking the onside shoulder it exited out the ribs on the far side. Was an 80 yard quartering to shot. Hope yours works out as well as mine did.

I shoot a T/C Omega 50 cal Stainless with a Gray Laminated stock and a Leupold Vari X III 2.5-8x36mm scope. I have been using the Nosler .451 cal 260 gr PT but I am thinking of switching to the .458 cal 300 gr BST this year. Powder is 120 grs Triple-7 and a Win 209 primer.

My wife and I both shoot TC Encore 209x50 muzzleloaders using 110 grains Triple 7, W209, and 348 grain PowerBelt Aerotips. Worked fine so far on 1 cow elk and 4 mule deer.

My mom shoots a TC Omega with 100 grains Triple 7, W209, and 300 grain Hornady SST sabots. She dropped a deer with it a few weeks ago in an early doe season back in Michigan. My dad says that load touches holes at 100 yards and it really made a big exit hole on my mom's deer.

I wish Colorado would allow scopes and sabots. I'd have one of those bushnell DOA scopes to go on the Encores and be good to 250 yards. My furthest kill has been close to 150 (no time to range). For me, that's about my max I would shoot anything with open sights and the Powerbelt bullets.
