Good electonic powder scales

Greetings In pursuit of the better load I have just about given up on the garden variety beam balances so common to reloading. Switched to the Frankford electronic unit and was pleased at first but starting to see variances that are unexplainable {to me anyway} and that leads me to those charming little gadgets called batteries. I have developed a dislike for them and their performance is coming into question once more. That unit was made in PRC which is maybe another strike against it. What I am wondering is how about a unit that plugs into the wall so things stay somewhat constant voltage wise? The old triple beams in chemistry class would be great but probably could buy a new house with what they cost. Tossing the charge with a Harrell's dispenser but it is only so accurate with 4831 {way better than anything else I ever tried} Just some suggestions from shooters who know. Thanks in advance. I imagine about any electronic scale you purchase will have some variation due to line voltage. However, if you have clean power, you should not see any significant variation. I've used several electronic scales. Truthfully, they are no faster than an agate knife scale, but they are more convenient. Most are crafted in the PRC, however. I have Lyman and Sartorius on my reloading bench; either works quite well.

Scotty,

You need to give us a product review of the Smartreloader iSD Automatic Powder Scale.

I always assumed those were made in China, otherwise I might have tried one out. I'd be very interested in how it performs also!

Thanks for all the good ideas on electronic scales. Did a lot of research and talked to lots of shooters. I settled on the Sartorius unit. So far I am pleased with it. It repeats every time, does not wander up and down as previous units had done. It also came with a basic "draft" shield and a cover to completely eliminate troublesome air currents. It has a lot of nice features,%, count total and more. The best part is made in USA. The two year warranty is nice also. The pact was my second choice and does appear to be a good unit also. Again, thanks for the input. Don't trust a government that does not trust you to own a gun. Newysan

I was not aware that the ISD Scale was made in Sweden? That gives me an entirely new outlook on that equipment. Worked in Helsingborg Sweden for awhile and everything that they did was first rate.

I use this for everything. Been with me for a long time and never a problem.

The Green Giant is awesome. It turns you into a machine. Dump powder, replace pan, shell in press, bullet, seat, place round in box, new case, funnel on case, repeat. And don't screw up or it will run you into the ground!!!

I have the RCBS green giant as well and I love it but it was expensive. $329.00 but RCBS is giving me a $50.00 rebate. There are some "characteristics" one has to learn on this scale, but I like it alot.

Scotty found the SmartReloader and gave a nice product review! (thanks Scotty) I believe that if I had seen the SmartReloader before purchasing the RCBS unit, I would have been hard pressed not to buy it first. $160.00 difference is a little chunk of money.

I also have the RCBS Charge Master. It gets used "a lot." I've had one glitch. The keyboard wore out after a little more than two years. RCBS repaired it, charging only $45. No complaints. As fast as I can seat a bullet, the next charge is ready to go.

Does this unit battery powered or does it plug into the wall?

Thanks

Plug it in and run with it. The Rangemaster scale has the capacity for battery power, but the Chargemaster 1500 does not.
