HELP...308W Seating Depth..165 Partitions...

HI ALL...I thought I had this worked out...I initially measured (probably incorrectly) from the bolt face to the point where the OGIVE just touches the lands.....got 2.800"...loaded to 2.790" OAL.....
groups are right at 1" BUT I know this rifle will do better....went back and measured again...and came up with 2.850".....mag box length is 2.850"...Nosler #6 says SAAMI MAX OAL is 2.810"....Rifle is Ed Brown Marine Sniper...KREIGER BBL...Jewell Trigger....it shoots Fed Factory Ballistic Tip 150's into .6"...How far close to the lands should I seat...????

Pete,

Tell us how you obtained the measurement. Did you use a gauge? Or did you use a crimped case with a bullet inserted? I recommend the Hornady (formerly Stony Point) OAL gauge for these measurements.

I used a cleaning rod with stop collars....inserteted from muzzle...
