What are the loads you're using in your guide gun?????

What sort of loads you looking for...I'm assuming this is the Marlin...I have a little experience with that.

I found RL-7 to be a great powder. I use it for 350 Hornady and 405gr cast bullets.

I have found the crimp to be the biggest variable in the 45-70.

Cheers

Yup the marlin with the 405 gr

50 grains of H322 for dinosaurs and such...and about 12-13 grains of Unique for everything else, no filler needed.

I forgot to add, that H322 load will jar your fillings loose....just fair warning, its a very accurate load...but kicks like a mad mule.

I am use to it, but thank you for the warning.

Thanks RR. What is your h322 load clocking?

MAN! Where are those beautiful 300 grain Partitions?

Fotis, I am running 40 grains of RL7, Starline Cases and CCIBR2's in my rifle, with Dave's 405 grain Cast. They run out at 1600 and are ACCURATE!!!

I have moved to RL7 as it seems like it generates the same speed and less pressure, at least that is what cases are telling me so far, plus, it burns REALLY clean.

That was my 100 yard zero target with the Aimpoint on the rifle. I am very impressed with these bullets. Plus, at 1600, it won't shoot your teeth loose..

Man! That is load I am looking for.

I will almost guarantee they'll shoot Fotis, you have the space to push them to the 2000 mark, but Gosh Darn, it will rock you. I know your used to recoil, but oh man, out of the little Guide Rifle, they really are harsh. A few of them straightened me out from wanting many more of em...

Where did you get them from?

Dave (Onesonek) from here. Bearttooth makes some good looking ones as well. I gotta say though, Dave's are the very best I've seen. He has almost pushed me over the edge to start casting my own. I was hoping to wack a deer or two with them this year.

It's a good load for sure Fotis. If you want more speed, you can also try the 50-52 grs. of Benchmark. They were running 1800+ in mine. I just settled the RL-7 at 1600, as it's easier on the shoulder, and plenty on the receiving end for most. Neither is really maxed out, but if I need more, then I go to the heavier 470 gr., at roughly the same 1600 fps. One could go faster yet with either however. But if they aren't enough at that,,,well then, another gun or chambering is likely prudent???
Those FP's work good without pushing them as hard as the gun will handle.
And, I like them becuase they don't lose all their velocity during the entire path through the animal, and penetrate like crazy. I believe that is more effective than a bullet comming to a halt in the body. I like exits regardless of what is used
