Ok, I've had a 8lb can of 4350 for what I'll call "YEARS" now. Have primairly used this out of my 7-08, but also loed development in about every other firearm I own.
Anyway, when I started with the 7-08 I believe was pre-ballistic tip erra.
Question is, I've shot MAX load of 47.2 grains ( as per Sierra's 3rd edition ) with 150grn Matchkings. When the ballistic tips came out, I switched to them and stayed with the same "MAX" load. I'm finally shot all that I had, and got ready to load.....looking in the Nosler fifth eddition, the MAX is 44.5grns. Almost 3 grains difference ??? Is this due to the company change? Has the IMR-4350 changed that much over the years? or am I still ok to load at 47.2grains?
Thanks

Just from looking at all my manual's. I wouldn't go over 45.0 Grains with that combination!

Powerstroke,

I would drop down and work up. You may see higher pressure from the Nosler BT due to the solid base design.

The Nosler Manual shows a starting load of 40.5 to 44.5 Max. with a 150 Grain Bullet in the 7mm-08. And they're showing a potential for best accuracy near the starting load. But as the prior post sais. It would be a good idea to work your way up again!

The powders have changed if you go back far enough. I have a two cans
of Dupont IMR 4350 and also some recent IMR 4350 and the difference
in a 30-06 with 180 grains bullets is about 2 grains or more. Where
57 grains of the old stuff is mild, 57 grains of the new stuff gives me
black rings around the primers.

Apparently they changed linters from cotton to cellulose at some point.
This changed the burn rate.

That's what I was wondering if the newer powder had changed. The old 8lb can is Dupont.
The gun has always been a tac-driver but likes the 4350 @ max load. I'll back off a little ways, and work back up.
Thanks Guys !
