I have just finish my 11th load that is under and inch (this load is yet to be tweaked) for my 300Win Mag using a 150gr GS Custom HV moving 3430fps with MRP, 3389fps with RL-22. The group below (the square on target is not quit and inch) is with the bullet resting on the lands and if I back off 1/1000th of an inch I believe it will really tighten up, so I need to finish tweaking this load. This is absolutely amazing that this Savage 116FHSS 300Win Mag has now 11 loads under an inch. I shoots the 130gr TTSX, 150gr E-Tip, 150gr TTSX, 150gr GS HV, 165gr Sierra HPBT, 165gr Sierra SBT, 180gr TTSX, 200gr AccuBond, 208gr Amax, 220gr Partition, 220gr Hawk RT. I am so excited about this rifle and my loads which makes this rifle and cartridge such a versatile and all around hunting rifle. Man if the house catches fire I will make sure my wife is out of the house and on my way out I will grab this rifle, OH!! YEAH!! the dog!!!! Can't leave little Fi Fi

I was very fortunate to buy a production rifle that out of the box with no adjustments that just swallows any pill I feed it

Indeed, an illustration of what is being turned out in factory rifles today. It ain't the old days, that's for sure. Good job, Mike.

You know, you are right. The factories with their computer controlled equipment are putting out more precise parts with higher tolerances.

Eleven different bullets? Wow! I don't think I've ever done that with a rifle!

Congrats on getting consistently good accuracy. Speaks highly of the rifle, the marksman, and the guy building the ammo. Good work! I think with a .300 Win mag, I'd just load up a good 180 gr Nosler and go hunting. Or maybe a 200.

Time to settle on your hunting load and get to know the trajectory of that load out to however far you intend to shoot this fall and do a lot of shooting from various field positions. I've never shot anything smaller than a ground squirrel with a .300 mag - that should tell you some of my practice targets...

Enjoy that rifle! Guy

The GS Customs are indeed the most accurate bullets I have tried so far.

Yes, they are very accurate and my 30-06 proved that, plus you can get velocities out of the GS because of the driving bands that you can't get out of any other bullet including the supposed magical all around Barnes TTSX or TSX according to Randy    In tweaking my load and over all length I will have that group cut in half. also I have 150 of them, got to nurse them, they are hard to get and also expensive.

I agree. I can get very close to 3200 fps out of the 330 GS in my 416 WBY

Man, that would be a freight train with Jet engines

True. I am only running them at 3100 fps to conserve wear and tear on the brass....and powder! :p

Well, I got my velocities where I want them with RL-22 and the only thing left is to play a little more with my OAL
Once I get my OAL like I want it will move 4 clicks to the right and will be 2.4" high at 100yds.

Sighted in at 2.4" at 100yds, Zero at 285yds / -5" at 356yds / -10" 443yds

Still 2000 pounds of energy at 394yds.

Velocity/Energy 3414fps - 3882ft pounds

150gr GS HV, RL-22, Win brass, CCI primers, group size is .893" moving at 3414fps on average

That should be a GREAT load! 3400+ fps with a high quality bullet and excellent accuracy... Looks like you'd be holding dead on hair out at a quarter mile too - not a bad situation at all.

Yes, as you said, "...not a bad situation at all." I am of the same opinion
