Here is an article about a platoon of Marines with the Scout Sniper Guidon which resembles the Nazi flag? Man, is everybody such a tightwad that they have to start picking on our flags? It is really iratating as every symbol could be construed as something else. Leave the boys alone, let em kills bad guys that mean us grave harm! Send them care packages and give them velcro flags for their kit. We don't need this crap with people thinking we are aligned to the Nazi's. Just ridiculous.. We kills bad people for a living. Plain and simple. The Marine Corps exists for one reason and that is it. We are forced to do other crap, but at the end of the day, steel on target is what Marines are there for... Scotty

I'm really pleased that you posted this, Scotty. The news has been reporting for the past two days the Marine snipers were posed with a Nazi flag. There were no pictures and no account in the MSN except to say that all the Marines had been reassigned. This information certainly casts matters in a different light. It is virtually impossible to believe anything published by the major news organisations. And it is increasingly difficult to believe that the current administration wants to win any war. They seem intent on disgracing the men and women who sacrifice so that they can sack the nation and deliver it into the hands of people that hate our way of life.

That's a paraphrase, and maybe in the wrong order, but the bottom line is, Scotty's right. Folks need to get out of the way and let these brave Marines do what they do. They're not anti-semitic, and they're not animals or monsters. They just happen to have the ability to carry a duty few can, with honor, for their country. Semper Fi, indeed!

And, Scotty, in case I've never personally told you, Thank you for your service. It is not lost on many of us that we do rise and set under the blanket of freedom you provide with your blood, sweat, and tears. Thank you.
 
Wow, I don't even know what to say. I have some ideas, but I don't think this is the place I could get a way with them.... :shock:

I agree Scotty, leave you guys alone and let you do your job. Our ROE's in Ramadi were ridiculous, the liberal media seems to think the enemy has more rights than we do. Makes me sick.
 
It kills me, guys like Mike's partners, myslef and alot of you out there, lived in crap, feel like crap, do a job day in and day out 95% of Americans would NEVER dream of doing, but man, they line up like it is a Starbucks for morning coffee to throw stones at us. I know it isn't as bad as our Vietnam Vet's had it, but damn, it raises my blood pressure when some hippy couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag voices the FREEDOM OF SPEECH about the young Marine he is so determined to put into jail. Assclowns, through and through... Sorry for the language, but man, we ask alot of our young Marines and other service members and when they show some unit pride, everyone is just scrutinizing the heck out of them... I know we (Marines) make mistakes but darn, everybody does. I think the young hippy and elite educated should come and show me hows it done!

I am not a writer, so don't mention the grammatical errors, they will fall on deaf ears! :twisted:

God bless all of our military folks for what they do for each one of us every day! No matter what you do, there are always the clueless few who seem to be able to make sure that their vast knowledge in all matters ( :x idiots) is heard. Scotty 99% of us appreciate everything you folks do while the other 1% carry on solely based on what you guys do, that enables them to have a voice. They will never get it!

I do not see a Nazi flag in the picture, but then I am not a liberal either.
I see fearless Marines who are proud of our country, the USA flag and THEIR flag.
GOD Bless our military and thank GOD we have Marines to get the nasty jobs done!

I wish the liberals in the media would tell this side of the story!!!

You're right man. The bottom line is even if that flag had spelled out S-c-o-u-t S-n-i-p-e-r, some jackass would have accused them of indirectly referencing the SS. And of course, most of western media does not bother to rationalize a story, or for that matter even find out facts behind it, before they blast it out. Regardless of the subject, whether national security, science, public policy or otherwise, the amount of flat-wrong information coming from our news organizations is embarrassing.

There are some good, smart journalists still out there, but there are a lot more who are simply mouths with no brains behind them. The other disappointment is that too many citizens swallow it. Scotty, please know how much we do appreciate the work you guys have done and continue to do every day.
 
Political correctness is a social disease! Breaking up a well oiled squad of Marine snipers over it is a waste of resources and maybe lives. The major media is on a drive to make anyone straighter than their spoiled, degenrate selves look bad. I hope is was not the imbedded reporter that caused this mess?
 
I've made my thoughts plain on this, and I am in full support of the Marines. But, the reality is, the flag they displayed is just about as close a rendering as you could create without Xerox of the nazi ss insignia. I suspect even ofthe flag had not been dark colored, but had rather been red, green, tan, or even hot pink, the media would still be criticizing this. But, for the record, these Marines did depict a near exact ss symbol.

And, they ought to be educated about that insignia and then left the heck alone. Oh, wait, they should be educated about the insignia, then thanked for their service, and then left the heck alone.

It's funny, no one ever accused the rock band KISS of the same. If I'm not mistaken, it's pretty close too! Again, I get it, but that same SS symbol has been use longer than I've been a Marine and I bet Guy Miner, who was a Scout Sniper Plt CMDR would let tell the same, young Marines just want their kills, they don't care if your black, white, yellow, red, German, Jew, etc! I imagine they were given a good talking to, but that symbol runs deep in the MC. It's not likely to be done away with soon.
 
You know what is so bloody ironic about this is that symbol probably came off the SWFE Super Sniper scope products which are sold in the US and not the Waffen Shutzstauffel (SS)
 
Well, upon further investigation, it is I who needs some education. Apparently the double rune has been in use as a Marine Scout Sniper logo since about 1980. So, while I still wonder a little about the choice of symbol, I can at least safely say that it took something like 32yrs for this outrage to suddenly foment. What does that tell me? It tells me the folks complaining are in need of a lesson in our locally collected $5 fine for whining (with due respect to the late Chris Ledoux).

My apologies for not doing better homework earlier.

Dubyam, my comment was not directed at you at all buddy. Your right, probably not the best choice in symbols, but it stands for nothing the darned Nazis stood for.
 
The Anglo Saxon runics have been formally written down since 400 AD after the Emperor Constantine made a basic education a prerogative in English culture. We share that with the Germans since we both have some common language and ancestry. I wonder if the media will admit that they fired without checking facts as they often do?

not much I can add to what others have said about some pin-heads looking to stir the pot...know that you have the respect and admiration of most if not all of us. Must be another one of those "adapt and overcome" things we all have heard!
 
I think what's sad, is that there is something even more fundamental at work.

The Nazi's were rotten evil fucks that deserved to have their nation turned to rubble and their society torn asunder and rebuilt in a better image. But by making everything they co-opted 'theirs', like styized nordic lettering, we give power to people and an ideology that deserve none. They might have borrowed it, but they didn't own it or create it.

I also think that a unit flag, and unit traditions are nobodies damn business outside that unit. I know more than a few marine scout snipers that wear the SS brand after having completed their sniper training. They accomplished something few men are capable of and have a right to wear that symbol with pride and honor. Anyone who shits on a badge of accomplishment so profound and meaningful needs a swift punch in the dick.

Not to mention.. does this mean the lefties are going to be really upset the next time KISS does a reunion tour again? (You know.. the band fronted by two nice Jewish kids?)
