Hi fellas, I was just wondering on the weights here  ..The heaviest moose take home meat (no bone at all) was 250lbs...thats steaks, fast fry's, roast, stew and hamburger...Just wondering what the live weight of the 250lbs clean meat would be :?: ...I'm guessing maybe 850lbs live weight?...That's from a 2.5 yr old bull...The cow and button bull yeilded 200lbs each, clean de-boned as well from the butcher, thanks..Lou.

600-700 lbs. for a 2.5 yr old bull, and that is being generous.
I'm guessing 750-850 live weight based on the 250lbs de-boned meat on a newfoundland moose :?: ..would be about the same as a shiras moose I would think..Never shot an Elk yet, but would be close I would think?...Lou.

I do not think you are to far off. You take almost 50% just field dressed & hide :)

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks Dan :) ..The young bull weight should be about 860lbs on the hoof, and about 430lbs quarterd with hide off..should yield about 250lbs de-boned meat, that's what I worked out to get...the others worked out to 200lbs de-boned as well, thanks..Lou :)
