Just added this one to the safe. Ruger 77/17 in 17 Hornet. I actually was able to round up ammo and componets without having to pay a premium. I have 300rds of factory, an additional 200 new cases, AA1680(2lbs.) and another 400 20gr bullets. I'm set for sagerats! I've topped this one off with a Bushnell 6500 2.5x16. Haven't shot it yet but recoil is supposed to be minimal allowing sight picture during and through the shot. Sited in at 200yd zero it'll only drop 6.5" at 300yds. Best of all at about 10gr of powder per round I ought to get about 1400 rounds out of these two pounds of powder. I should be less than $.20 per round on the reloads that's less than 17HMR costs! I often shoot 500rnds a day when I'm shooting rats.

That looks really nice, 1400 rounds from 2 lbs of powder is pretty amazing. I hope it ends up being popular and companies will bring out some inexpensive bullets for it. The Nosler Varmageddon seems to be a step in that direction. Looking forward to your range results.

Very nice Scott, congratulations buddy.
I bet it will be a tack driver!

I'm liking the looks of the 17 Hornet...

I'm betting it would make a great fox and lynx gun!

Im not one for Laminated stocks (even though I have one)....but thats kinda cool! I would love a ruger in "target gray". The 17 hornet sounds like a great round- very interesting. Nice rifle! CL

Nice! I've got one coming from a gunsmith that was built off of a 77/22 hornet. Got the itch before the factory rifles were available. Still waiting on it but I have 500 new brass, and about 500 rounds of loaded factory ammo, some 20gr vmax, cci small rifle primers, and a few pounds of lil gun ready to go!

Very nice rifle. You will be amazed what the little 17 can accomplish

Very nice Scott! I like that rifle a bunch and I really dig the economy of it as well!
