For medium sized game the best! Try H4831 or RL 22...60 gr or so, work it up slow from 55.

What about range? A 30 yard shot is much different then a 300 yard shot using the same bullet. If shots less than 150 yards are the norm try the 130 or 140 Partition, or the 140 AccuBond.

The 130 gr BT will work great on WT deer, keep the impact velocity at 3000 fps or lower. The 130 gr AccuBond would be perfect in the 270 Win for shots both near and far. It will also punch through a shoulder with no worries.

I shot a deer at 100 paces with a .270 and 140 grain BT. It killed the deer very quickly and put a stop to his running. I shot a bit too high though and ruined some backstrap.

The BTs are great deer bullets. Very efficiant killers.

Would the .277 130 bullet have comparable jacket thickness to the .284 120 gn Ballistic Tip? Or is it thinner walled?

I have used 130 grain 270 Winchester on elk with excellent results. Complete penetration, and the ones that I recovered were 94 grains. I have also shot whitetails and mule deer with the 130 grain at 10 feet with my 270 weatherby magnum at a velocity of 3500+ fps. The bullet left a pencil sized hole both sides, and the deer travelled about 30 feet. Very efficient.

130 grain silvertip,130 grain Speer hotcore and 130 grain Partition. They all performed flawlessly.For the past couple years, I have been loading the 140 grain Hornady, and it has worked real well too.

Fill up the case with about 60 gr of RL 22 or H4831 and experience the bang/flop phenomenon. :wink:
