My rifle is one of the last to come out of Marlin's hands Per se. It is the 44SS 22" barrel 1:20 ballard rifling.

I ordered these yesterday. Beartooth bullets

300g WFN GC 100 each

Comments:
This 300g bullet functions in all revolvers and lever-action rifles, delivers outstanding accuracy due to long bearing surfaces and Hammer-of-Thor terminal performance.
Sizing Diameter .432"

These will be launched at 2100-2200 fps making for a hammer from hell.
Elk in the timber this year.

Fotis,

That bullet will penetrate into next week. No problem shooting the south end of a north bound elk and hitting the vitals. Not a recommended shot mind you, but........

Those look just like the Beartooth 425gr PDJ's I have loaded for the 45-70. Can't wait to give them a whirl in the rifle, just haven't gotten around to blasting them yet. The 250gr Beartooth WFN's shoot excellent in my 44RM and penetrate like it nobodies business. Scotty

I got lucky with this rifle! It was suppose to be pre-owned and it was but unfired. Certainly accurate enough!. The only rifle I ever bought from the internet without even seeing a picture!

Anyway I am glad it is a real Marlin and not a Remington® Made! Aka Marlington/Remlin.

There is plenty of mass to ensure deep penetration. Congratulations on securing a Marlin--a REAL Marlin, Fotis.

Can't pick on the Remington made Marlins too much Fotis. Brians is a Remlin and will put 5 300gr BST's into about an 1" and man, it cycles really slick like. I think it is one of them things you wanna be able to put your eyes on before you buy. Scotty

In all fairness I have not worked with any of the new ones. I have heard various stories from others though.
Only gauge I have is hoe the Rem 700's went down hill when Cerberus bought Remington.

I agree with you Fotis, you know the issues I had. I have seen and cycled some of the newer ones and if allowed to work them a little before buying tells a decent story. I would be a little scared to buy one without being able to cycle it some and check the quality out some. Scotty
