Nosler is advertising something like 11,750 rounds and still firing. Is this a really good add? I didn't know that actions were known to wear out after a few thousand rounds. I know barrels will depending on cal, but the action doesn't take that much punishment. Or am I misinformed?

just something that caught my attention when I logged on.

Actions do suffer from wear and tear, the cocking piece raceway in my Model 70 action wore down from constant use in NRA highpower matches and had to be welded and then machined back into spec.

It is/was a very high use action though. With the exception of some varmint rifles, most hunting rifles will never see that many rounds through them. BTW - that little discoloration in the raceway doesn't seem to be rust, I can't seem to scrub it off with anything. Not sure what the heck it is.

Interesting ad though, and I caught myself wondering how many times an action can be cycled without problems. Firing pin springs may need to be replaced from time to time, and now and then a small part will fail too, like the famous Rem 700 extractor.

Regards, Guy
