Off and on today, after my morning hike, I've been up in the "gun room" loading ammo. Nice place to be. Air conditioned and surrounded by rifles, bullets, powder, and trophies of past hunts and competitions all around.

Started small with the 6mm Rem & 100 gr Noslers over RL-22. A solid combo that my son has used successfully several times in the past.

Moved up to the .25-06 and loaded up 50 already primed cases with Retumbo and 115 gr Nosler Partitions... Looking for a little more of that famous Partition penetration on mule deer this year.

Swapped out to the .30-06 and 165 Noslers over H4350, another proven combo.

Ended up the session with the .375 H&H, using 260 gr Accubonds over RL-15, my most accurate load for the Ruger.

It was pretty nice, just quietly working away during the heat of the day. Perhaps some of this ammo will get used sometime this hunting season!

Same here Guy, I started with a trip to go and get my stand by powders (RL19, RL22, H4198 and Retumbo). After I got back I loaded up 45 - 35 Whelen cases with the 250gr PT with RL15. The boy and I just finished up with 45 of the 338WM with 250gr PT's and RL19. Next up and last for the day is the 270WSM with 150gr PT's and RL22. It has been a great day getting all the hunting stand by loads ready to go. Scotty

Moved up to the .25-06 and loaded up 50 already primed cases with Retumbo and 115 gr Nosler Partitions... FPS on this one also? In my wife's 25-06 with IMR4350 at 49.0 grs. in the 22" barrel on her MTN rifle it chronographed right at 3000 fps. I had not shot her rifle over the chrono. I just knew the load shot great and killed great, and that load was worked up BC which is "before chronograph".

Swapped out to the .30-06 and 165 Noslers over H4350, another proven combo. Curious as to your load on this one too Guy? I load the same bullet but with IMR4350 at 57.4 grs. Gets me 2920-2940 fps in my 26" #1B.

I love loading and I just seem to lose myself doing it and the time just goes by so quickly. I can easily spend 3 hours and feel like I just sat down at the bench! I have some more to do and am not quite as on the ball as you are. I have my 30-06, my son's 6mm (E-tip) My 6mm and the 25-06 yet to do. Trying to get that load for the 300 WSM finished first and the move on.

Good luck out on the hill. It's always nice to get out.

Nice. Someday I will have my own reloading room where I can get away from life for a few hours at a time. Sounds like a great day.

Sounds like a good day Guy! My girlfriend helped me reload a little this afternoon. I just moved into a new place and hopefully I can turn the smallest room into a reloading room. Ill have to get all my own reloading equipment but I have been using my Dad's and cluttering up his reloading room.

Hopefully, Guy used his hike as an excuse to take a gun for a walk in the woods!

I prepped a bunch of Nosler brass does that count? Getting a bunch of .243 ready for winter yotes, and some 280 AI for my wifes deer and elk tags.

Sounds like we're all gearing up for the forthcoming season then lads.
I spent yesterday prepping brass for my .25-06 & loading them up ready for the stags in mid September.
Was at the range on Friday night last ensuring all is well with rifle & ammo......zero spot on & nothing loose. All thouroughly cleaned & oiled on Saturday, with only the ammo to re-make yesterday. Done & Good to go!
Cheers, G.

I have quite a bit of ammunition prepped, but there is always more to make. I need to sit down and make some more for a couple of the rifles. They'll likely receive some attention this week.

Saturday really was a great day: Started with a strenuous hike first thing in the morning. Am lucky enough to live within a 20 minute walk of a trailhead leading to a very steep local hill. That always gets me going! I try to hit 45 minutes from my home to the top of the rocky hill. Haven't quite made that yet this year, down to 47 minutes and closing. Then a longer path home. At a vigorous pace the whole thing takes about two hours, boots on to boots off.

Loaded ammo and messed with my rifles the rest of the day.

Then headed out and went bear hunting in the evening with my wife and son. Slept real well that night. Back to work today.

Yes sir! Opens August 1st here. Some parts of the state open later.

A little warm down low, but temps are not bad morning and evening if we're up in the mountains a bit.

Within this past week I've loaded up a few sessions worth of range time. Not all Nosler components but press time nonetheless.

.270Win - 140NAB over 46.0 - 48.0gr H4831SC - I want to verify a proven load vs a ladder test. I'm going to look at how I normally select a load, group comparison, versus what the results of a ladder test provide. I just got a new 8lb jug of powder and want to validate the new lot as this is my go-to hunting load.

.270Win - 140gr SST over 44.0 - 46.0gr IMR-4064 - this is for a friend's M700 Mountain rifle which has had consistency issues. I'm ready to remove the forearm length v-shaped barrel-support channel on this rifle and free-float it. I want to get a good control load to work from before I remove this lengthy pressure point and this powder/bullet combo has proven to be consistent in two other .270s. Not too hot and but cheap, it makes a good practice load.

358Win - 250gr Grand Slam over 42.0 - 44.0 IMR-4064 - I have 200 of these old style Grand Slams so I might as well give them a go. I'm pretty certain that I'm going to be using 225gr bullets for this rifle but ya never know!

358Win - 200gr Rem PSPCL over 49.0 - 51.0gr Varget - I have had poor results with IMR-4064 and IMR-3031 using 200gr bullets from Hornady and Rem. Looking for a whitetail load but will probably stay with the 225gr bullets for everything with this rifle. Figured that I may as well shoot them all up trying to find something that will work.

22-250 - 53gr TSX over 34.0 - 36.0gr Varget - need to validate this load for a back-up whitetail load. I know, I know...but there's nothing wrong with having an emergency option. The 60gr NP load I have for this purpose isn't very good.

Don't forget the 270 Jake! Might as well get ahead of the power curve with that as well! Scotty
