Off the shelf Savage and 65gr Gamekings

I ran some OCW tests today with an off the shelf Savage and here are some results.

Savage 11 with 3x9 Nikon Prostaff
Win Brass
CCI 400 Primer
Shot off bags

58F cloudy slight tail wind
100 yards

Bullet - 65gr Sierra Gameking
Powder - Varget
COL - 2.290

It likes 26.0gr

24.7 has potential

25.0 and 25.3 could tighten up with some seating depth or primer changes.

Not a bad start, the rifle shows promise. Savage rifles are fun.
 
Looks as if you have a shooter on your hands. Some exciting targets there. The potential should be very exciting with your handloads.
 
All that and I forgot to mention it is a .223. I am working up loaks for a buddy, I think he will be pleased.
 
Yes, Savage rifles are indeed fun because they are accurate right out of the box. Nice consistent shooting. You do have a shooter.
