I have some old Nosler bullets in the yellow box,in 200 gr Part. for the 300 Win......how are these compared to the newer ones?

Are these the old ones that looked like they had been turned on a lathe? Fine lines across 'em?

I've got some of those in 6mm/85 grains that I bought in the 1970's and a few somehow never got loaded. My impression is that they perform well on game, but that they're not typically as accurate as the newer production Nosler Partitions.

IMHO, the Noslers you have are a more rounded nose than the newer "pointed" version that are in present production. The Noslers you have don't hold their velocity at longer ranges like the newer style does. I shot them in a 300 WBY for a long time and until I shot the last of them that I had. Then I purchased the new style and shot them for a few seasons and finally found abut 20 boxes of the "older" ones again. I purchased the older style bullets from an estate in Houston. Seems the good Doctor just bought all he could get of the .308 and .284 diameters when he ordered. As far as expansion......again MHO....the older ones do as well as the new ones. (Moose, Elk, Bear, and mulies) The groups are the same....all sub MOA. FYI also....the .284 "old style", in both 140 & 160g deliver less than MOA in my 7 X 57, .280, & 7mmRem Mag. I would not hesitate to purchase, trade for, or shy away from any of the older style in any cal. Load 'um up and good hunting. I'm sure you will have as great of results shooting the oldies as you would have shooting the new stype. Best of luck to you!
