Preference of IMR or Hodgon in same powder?

I know they are owned by the same company, but do you have a preference of one over the other with the same powder type, like for 4350 for example?

I have used Hodgdon powders but always seem to migrate to Dupont IMR powders. The past 10 years I have come to really like the Alliant powders.

I use both but I am really enjoying the Hodgdon Short Cut & Super Short Cut lines. I like the way it meters, its density in my cases, and the fact it is a bit less temp sensitive then IMR. I do find a bit better performance with one vs the other in some cartridges but neither out does the other across the board.

This is one of the few time JD338 and I have dissagreed. I happen to prefer Hodgdon powder in general as opposed to IMR.

I especially have had better luck in a number of rifle with H 4895 versus IMR 4895.

And in cast bullet rifle loads I have had better luck with H 4198 compared to IMR 4198.

And I have found more and more uses for H 4350.

I have been using H 4831 for more years than I want to admit and find very few uses where IMR 4831 has done better for me. (As in my 25-06 and my 300 WSM.)

I have to admit that in certain applications nothing beats IMR 7828.

But as a general rule, I use way more Hodgdon powders.

RF,

Its kind of funny because we do usually agree on everything.
Truth be known, the first powders I ever started loading with were
H4895 and H4350 in the cardboard cans with the plastic plug lid.
If I would have migrated more towards Hodgdon, we would still be
on the same page.

BTW, I'm using Varget in my 22-250 and have used H1000 in my
338 RUM.
