Primers?

Federal

Winchester

CCI

I have tried some Remingtons, but had a few mis- fires with them, which makes me afraid to use them in my hunting loads.

Interesting. I guess I should state why I'm asking. Currently I use only CCI, but I have been having primer problems in my pistol loads. I have been reading more thoughts on another forum about primers and its sounds like CCI are primers not use.

I guess I'm looking for good consistance and accurate primers and I am looking for any input I can get.

Thanks,
Corey

Well, taking the sugestions from a few here, I switched to the Federals. The CCI wasn't enough to light the large quantity of powder in the .300RUM.....however!!! I was using benchrest, and not Mag primers either.
I don't have any experience loading handgun rounds. I have yet to have "ANY" primer failures. I'll change back and forth once in a while from the CCI benchrests to the remingtons without noticing a difference.
Fortunately, primers are the cheap part......if your questioning it, try a new brand.
Good luck

Well, I'm not worried about the pistol part. I am looking into changing primers for my rifle 7mmRM.

Federal 215's in any Mag I have anymore !
they are lighting mid 90grns of powder in my RUM.

I just used some in my Dad's 7mag as well.....

Cool thanks for the information. I think I will give Federals a try.

I use Fed 215's for any Magnum or Ultra Magnum. For any standard caliber or varmint cartridge, I either use Fed 210's or CCI BR-2'. For my little itty bitty .222 I use CCI 200's. CCI's are a mild primer, hence why I use them in cases with capacity similar to an 06' case. Sometimes those CCI BR-2's out do the Fed 210's by a good margin, sometimes they dont.

My 270WSM, 300RUM and 338WM are using Fed GM215M Primers. Still using WIN stuff for my handguns, but will probably switch to Feds as our club is stocking more them than the WINs.

Hmm a quick check of my shelf showed a brick (or partial) each of;
WLR I use in my 270 and `06
Rem 9 1/2 I like for my 260 rem and some 708 loads
CCI 200 for other 708 & 25-06 loads
Federal 205M for the 223
WLP that go in 44 mag loads
and Fed 150 M that I have stayed with in my 45acp just because.......
+ a couple assorted trays of CCI 400 small rifle, & Win SP.

I've been useing Win's for ever,& have NEVER had a misfire.
I use them in my 338Win
300Win
& my 45 Colt.

I've tried 'em all; including RWS and Russian primers and consistently when shooting LR with my Shiloh .45/110 using 112 grs. Goex 1F BLACKPOWDER and a 570 gr. PJ Smerker all-lead cast bullet.....CCI BR-2 primers give me the least vertical dispersion!!
