Jake I am looking forward to your range report as I have two boxes of the 168gr. ABLRs for my 280AI. I also have a couple of pounds of 7828ssc .

Blessings,
Dan

Your long barrel should let them run fast too Jake.

When is the range day?

I played with 7828ssc in mine last week with the 168 ABLR. 59 gr shot really well and gave me 2900 fps with single digit ES from a 24" barrel. Shot better than RL-22 or RL 23. I'm using Nosler brass and WLRM primers.

Jake,

How far off the lands? I know mine is way out there. I will find out tomorrow. You got any pictures?

I'm not sure off the top of my head but from the looks of things, and the history with those bullets in this gun I need to move them back a bit.

Jake,

What kind of speed are you getting?
I loaded up some tonight at 58.5, 59.0 and 59.5 grs with a .250" jump.
Hope to shoot tomorrow.

This is pretty interesting. I'll be very interested to see how you two make out. Jim, that is quite alot of free travel. It'll be cool if it really shoots right there...

The ABLR's ran me through the ringer, I'd really like to see them come alive.. At least the real long ones like the 210's, 168's and 175's..

That's my 6.5-06 last week with the 129s at .030 jump at 200 yards. Seemed like the further I jumped them the better it got. Don't know if that helps and that seemed like a big jump to me, but it seemed to work. (Had to fix my lack of a zero on the depth)

I agree that 0.3 inches of jump is a lot. The most jump I ever employed to get a rifle to shoot was with a 130 grain Scirocco in a 270 WSM. I had 0.25 inches of jump in that instance, but it was a very accurate load. There has to be a point of diminishing returns.
