Well I am hoping you can run me a quick load data for a customer of mine.
.257 weatherby mag . 120 gr Speer Deep Curl. Fed 215m primers nosler brass.
He has IMR 7828, retumbo, and some US 869?
He contacted Speer and they told him that because they have had pressure issues they are no longer giving out data for the deep curls . The bullet he has is being eliminated from further construction. He asked about using max loads of 25-06 for starting loads in the Bee with any of those powders and was told not to by Speer .
He has been shooting mostly Sierra 117 gr pro hunters over retumbo. So does quick load give out any info that would make you question the deep curl?
Has anyone been loading the deep curl ?
The Speer rep told him to sell them Online ( E-bay ) and get his money back!
This just boggles my mind!! 7828 was what he was hoping to try first .

I've had no problems with Deep Curls. I don't shoot lots because they are increasingly scarce over here. Whoever told him to sell them on E-Bay wasn't thinking. If they are sufficiently "dangerous" to cease manufacture, they could create problems for anyone. The gentleman was, in effect, being advised to expose himself to significant liability since he was advised of problems. Long story short, if I had Deep Curls (and I do), I'd use them.

Ya this guy has no reason to lie too me so I took his word on it. It doesn't make sense that anyone in the industry would talk like that. Thank you for the data I will forward it to
Him he has been loading long enough he should be able to develop a safe load.
Just as an interesting aside I crossed my Sierra , Hornady , and nosler manuals.
Nosler had the higher charges, Sierra in the middle, and Hornady had the mildest loads. The Hornady loads with 7828 started at the max load for a26-06 about (57 grs starting) and they ended around(64 grains for max).

Good luck buddy. the 120 Deep Curl should be awesome in the 257 Wby. My little brothers are piling up deer with RL25 and 120 PT's this year. Seems like a very good combo. I could see liking that sorta combo alot.
