My favorite powder with the 200gr PT is RL22. I would start around 70gr's and slowly work up. I am getting 2900 out of my rifle and excellent accuracy as well. I really think the 200gr bullets in the 300WM shine. Great BC and SD and just work very well. The 200gr GK from Sierra is another good 30 cal bullet to use for practice if you don't wanna shoot up a bunch of PT's for load work. Should get you in the ball park pretty quickly and allow you to tweak a PT. Scotty

I have to admit I haven't really geeked out with my .300 WinMag, but I loaded RL22 with 180 Partitions and it seemed to work fine. The 4x4 mulie seemed impressed with it.

RL22 and 200's was REAL good in my old 300.. Makes me wished I had it back some days. Easy 2950 or so, and the accuracy was really good from that old Ruger.

.300 Win mag really shines with 180's & 200's.

I was thoroughly impressed 30 years ago or so when I started mixing IMR 7828 with 200 gr bullets... Very good accuracy. It seemed to shoot really well at longer ranges. RL-22 turned out to be my go-to powder for that cartridge for a number of years. A big, heavy, well constructed .30 cal bullet at good velocity is formidable.

I have killed several elk with the 200gr Partition. My old load I have not been able to duplicate. No IMR4831 or fed215M primers to load it with. So I had to change. The largest amount of powder I have on the shelf is RE22 and I have plenty of Remington 9 1/2M. Rifle is a 24" ruger 77MKII. Mounted a new scope, Fixed the trigger, shaved the bolt channel, floated the magazine box. Improved accuracy 100% so I'm interested in using it again. Goal is 2900fps with usable accuracy to 400yds+. Pre work it was never anything but a 200yrd max rifle.

Should be a piece of cake with the RL22.. I think I was around 72-73 grains and around 2940-2950. It was good in my old Ruger as well.

My load has been 71.5 RL22 with 200g ABs.

Gives 2800-2850 fps in 2 different rifles and the same 1/3-1/2 MOA .

Couple spikes have hit paydirt from 600-900 with this combo. They won't be complaining...

Nailed the load first time out with both rifles. Pretty easy work up...RL22 and 7 mag and 300 mag with heavies are made for each other.

Load with 180s has always been 75-75.5 for the 300 with RL22, which again has accounted for more then its fair share of elk out to 800 with no problems.
