Anyone have any issues doing this? I've seen 270 wby brass on SPS for a decent price. Just run through the full length resizing die and it's good, right?

You will likely need to trim after resizing, but, yes, you can make 257 WBY brass from 270 WBY brass.

It should work like a charm. Just check your case length after resizing.

Yes, I think it should work great. I re-size 7mm Rem mag brass to .257 in one pass through the sizing die. The shoulders get the traditional rounded Weatherby "double radius" as soon as they're fired in the rifle.

7mm mag brass is much less expensive than any .257 Wby brass I've been able to find.

Doesn't the resized 7mag case end up too short? Will that short case cause increased wear on the barrel?

Be aware that 7 mag brass is heavier and has less case capacity than Norma/wby. Plan on having to reduce loads by about 2 grains w/converted 7 mag.
Also. If you convert 7 mag it goes much easier with virgin or annealed brass.

But usually less capacity

Just curious if a guy was not going to use Weatherby brass why not choose 300 Win Mag brass over 7mm Rem Mag then you would have a fully formed neck after trimming. At least it would be a good use of 300 WM brass ;)

Back in the old days, before there was any .257 Weatherby brass, Grandpa used to make it by shortening and necking down .300 H&H brass, then fire-forming it. I still have some of his old cases, made that way. It was a bit of work to do that, but initially it was the only way to make cases for the .257 Wby.

There was no .300 Win mag then, nor 7mm Rem mag either. The .300 H&H though, did exist.

Forming brass for the .257 started long ago, and still works, if you don't want to buy it. I've got brass from several sources now:

Brand new Norma .257 Wby brass
Once fired .257 Wby ammo
Re-formed 7mm mag cases
Re-formed .300 H&H cases

It all works!
