What is the deal with this company? I understand that they probably have a backlog, but I can't get anyone to respond to my emails. I ordered my stock over 2 months ago and can't get any info on it. I have sent four emails without a single response. That's just plain bad customer service in my book! Any of you guys had dealings with them? I know desertfox has and he seemed to be happy. What's the deal.

Years ago I had them send me a stock for a Rem 700 in 8mm Remington Mag that I have since parted with like a fool. even back then it seemed to take them a while to get it to me. I think that was 1999 or 2000. I am not sure what their business is like now but I am inclined to think that would qualify as poor customer service being as they havent at least contacted you with a status update. On the other hand I work in customer service and so if you can, try to be patient, there are often good reasons why things don't go as planned that are beyond our control. When you do hear from them though, I would remind them of those four emails...they may give you a break.

Yeah but the phone is always busy. They quickly returned my emails when I was aksing them about getting a stock, but it seems like after they had my order... nothing!

IMHO if Boyds can provide you with a stock style you like and they have the action cut for your rifle, you will be satisified with the customer service. Took me a couple extra phone calls, and they should have provided more accurte infor for fitting on there web site, but they made it right. CL

yeah I wish i would have gone with something else just so I would have it by now, but i hope that it is worth it in the end!

I have no direct dealings with Richards. I've never been to their shop either. All my stock was ordered through my gunsmith friend who had a direct business relationship with Richard. I like the design ad quality of Richards stock. I'm happy with mine.

I have dealt directly with them on 3 stock orders. All 3 took forever, all 3 are absolutely beautiful wood, well made and perfectly inletted. Everything I bargained for except the "6 weeks lead time". My last stock was the worst. Ordered in first week of september, received mid Jan. Called several times, finally had luck and got ahold of someone at 16:00 california time. Found out they made my stock then lost it. They upgraded me a walnut grade and had it produced within the week and shipped out. They make one hell of a product and have terrible customer care. I think they are one of those companies that is as big as they want to be, have as much business coming in as they need and just don't care. If they didn't make such darn nice lumber I would never deal with them again. Boyds makes good stocks, but they don't offer the hardwood grades, actions inlets or laminate and style choices, and other custom makers are nowhere near their prices. If you want a unique high quality stock to finish yourself, you're stuck with them.

richards are ok, just slow, make decent stocks, been dealing with them since 1992, but if ya want another outlet www.wenig.com
not sure if royal arms are still up and running or not.

Well they finally got back to me. In total I sent five emails. They gave me a short and sweat answer! They responded to my third:

The stock will be sent out on Thursday.Helen

Wow, not much for words huh! A simple, I'm sorry for the delay would have been a nice gesture! Glad you are getting it though. Scotty

Yeah that is just plain rude! I don't care if my stock is made out of 24k gold when it shows up. I'll never give them my business again. I don't believe that I was rude at all with the emails that I sent. It's funny that I sent so many emails, and when they finally respond it is sent out the next day. They must get enough business that they don't care about customer satisfaction.

I agree SE, you deserve better service than that! Hope the gun turns out like you wanted old boy! Post some pics so we can drool too when its done.

I wouldn't do business with them either buddy! That is the kind of thing where I would never touch them either. They treat a brother like crap and they lose my business! Plain and simple. If they have that good of business, they don't need mine! Scotty

Well it has been a week since they told me that they would ship my stock. Guess what? NO STOCK!!! They haven't billed my account for the stock and I have no tracking number so I assume that they never shipped it! I'm about ready to cancel my card and let them keep it! Sorry just had to vent a little.

I would SE. That sounds like just poor service. I know I wouldn't buy from them after hearing your experience. There are plenty of others that will work harder for your business. Try Stocky's, they seem to have a bunch of laminates. Scotty

Wow. That's not the way to generate business. Even a quality product can't overcome poor (or non-existent) service. The attitude fairly screams, "We don't care about you."

I just called them and left a message that they have exactly 24 hours to call me back telling me that it is shipped or I cancel my card and they are stuck with my stock. I already found a really sweet one on stocky's ( thanks scotty!). They are having a sale now I could pick one up for $175. If the bank was open now, my card would already be cancelled!!!

That's great to hear SE. Stockys seems to be a very reasonable company willing to work a little for our hard earned bucks. Scotty
