I am going to be selling my remington model 710. So when I was about to sell my rifle I found a savage model 111 in a 7mm rem mag. I am wondering if these are any good and what your thoughts are on it. Thanks

Bought my first rifle when I turned 18 (33 years ago) :( . It was a Savage 111 in 30-06. Gave it to a good friend, more like he borrowed it and it never came back. (Saying I gave it to him makes me feel better) He gave it to a nephew and its still taking deer in 2008.

BUY SAVAGE, NO WAY REMINGTON 710, ARE THE WORST RIFLES HAVE EVER SEEN. REMINGTON 710 ARE PLAIN JUNK.

I think Corbin was saying that he was already parting ways with the 710. That said, as you can see Savages have a good rep around here. A Savage in 7Mag would certainly get my interest. If thats a cal. you want and can handle. The Savages have a rep as tack drivers. CL

What are usually the range for these rifles? because I really like to shoot long range, (500 yards and up).

I did some reloading for a friend who has a savage mod 111 in 7mm mag.
After going to the range and shooting his gun durring load development, I decided I needed a 7mm. His rifle shot .625 easily @ 100 yds.
As far as range goes, I think it would depend on what you are shooting at along with the type of bullet.
I wouldn't hesitate dropping the hammer on an elk at 400yds with a 160gr AB or a 175gr PT.
