Saw My First Moose

Driving home from work, on a sheet of ice us Alaskans call a road, I saw my first moose here.

Looked young, and small, and my coworkers told me there’s an adolescent moose that’s hanging around work. I’m guessing this is the moose I saw. I was in 4X4 going downhill on said sheet of ice so I didn’t get the opportunity to take a picture.

Was an awesome sight and one I look forward to seeing again. Planning to get out snowshoeing in a couple weeks. Maybe I’ll see a few more.

Unlike Arizona I can’t keep my roadkill here in Alaska.

No.
It’s illegal in Alaska for a motorist to put down an injured animal and they have a list for people wanting road kill. If you’re on the list they will call you when it’s your turn to go pick up a roadkill critter.
